28/03/26: At Kozhikode (Calicut), Dr. Sunil Gupta delivered another prestigious award lecture, the “Prof. Dr. P. J. Geevarghese Oration”, on his unique original research work titled “Insulin Injection Induced Lipohypertrophy: Highly Prevalent but Poorly Addressed Entity” 🩺📊. The session was chaired by Dr. Rafiq Mohamed, Dr. G. Vijayakumar (Pandalam), and Dr. S. Sasidharan.

He was felicitated with a Golden Shawl, Citation, Certificate, and a special memento — the traditional Beypore Uru model, a handcrafted replica of historic wooden dhow-type ships from Beypore ⛵.

In his lecture, Dr. Gupta emphasized that lipohypertrophy is a common yet under-recognized complication of insulin therapy, leading to glycemic variability, unexplained hypoglycaemia, and poor diabetes control. He highlighted the importance of regular injection site examination, correct rotation techniques, and patient education to prevent this avoidable condition and improve overall diabetes outcomes.
