Dr Mrs. Ashwini Choudhary Tayde, medical graduate of GMC Nagpur, and post graduate in medicine from IGGMC. Later she worked as consultant physician at cancer institute Hyderabadand KEM hospital Mumbai, where she developed immense interest in infectious diseases. To persuade her interest, she joined two years DNB fellowship in program in infectious diseases at Apollo Hospital, Chennai in 2011 and finished it in 2013. She also has done IDSA/SHEA INFECTION CONTROL FELLOW PROGRAM from USA. Her passion in chosen domain has seen her acquiring extensive experience in the field of tropical medicine. She has extensive experience in managing dengue fever, complicated typhoid fever, leptospirosis, falciparum malaria, scrub typhus with multiple organ failure in intensive care setups. She has extensive first hand experience in management of Nosocomial infection, PUO ,community acquired infections, transplant infection, neurosurgical Meningitis, prosthetic joint infections, difficult to treat multi-drug resistant infections, MDR,TDR TB, HIV, infections in pregnancy, fungal infections. She has also done certificate course of knowledge in clinical tropical medicine and travelerโs health from ASTMH, ATLANTA, USAand has ventured into the important but neglected field of adult vaccination and will be running adult vaccination and travelerโs health clinic. She has numerous publications in national and international journals to her credit. She has attended many national and international conferences and presented many research papers in her chosen field. Dr.Ashwini Tayde stated that, โSeventy-five per cent of ICU deaths are because of infection. There are not enough ID specialists in India,โ she said.
On this occasion Dr.Anup Marar, Director, OCHRI stated that an ID specialist is required when an infection is difficult to diagnose, an infection is accompanied by a high fever, a patient does not respond to treatment, a healthy person plans to travel to a foreign country or a location where infection risk is higher and treating illnesses becomes a part of a patientโs overall care. In all of these cases, the specialized training and diagnostic tools of the ID specialist help determine the cause of infection and the best approach to treatment.
