Mr Yaniv Revach, Consul General of Israel to Midwest India, visited the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Nagpur, on Monday. He was accompanied by Mr Anay Joglekar, an expert in international affairs.
During a tour of the NCI facilities, Mr Revach, a seasoned diplomat with extensive international experience, interacted with doctors to gain insights into the institute’s diagnostic and treatment services, which are offered at affordable costs. He exchanged views with the medical and management teams on advanced medical technologies, academics, training, and potential collaborations.
Mr Revach expressed keen interest in NCI’s efforts to remove the fear associated with cancer, particularly the Ayushmati programme, under which women above the age of 40 are screened free of cost for breast cancer. He was deeply moved on learning about the institute’s initiative to provide free cancer treatment to children.

Mrs Manisha Ravi Dhotre said that NCI’s Ayushmati programme has helped her to get rid of the fear of cancer because of screening and counselling by doctors.

Mrs Dhotre attended a cost-free screening held under NCI’s Ayushmati programme on Saturday. She was part of Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s group that travelled from Lakhani in Bhandara district to Nagpur. Managed by Dr Pratibha Uday Rajhans, Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s Bouddhik Pramukh of Bhandara district, the women from Lakhani have been attending Ayushmati events for the past three years.

Mrs Lata Yashwant Waghaye was very excited to attend NCI’s cost-free screening -- Ayushmati programme that, according to her, turned out to be immensely educative and supportive to understand her health status. Mrs Waghaye, who is associated with Rashtra Sevika Samiti, Lakhani in Bhandara district, said every woman should get herself checked at the earliest.

Her group travelled to NCI Nagpur on Saturday morning as part of Samiti’s initiative held under the leadership of Dr Pratibha Uday Rajhans, Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s Bouddhik Pramukh of Bhandara district.

Another group of women, this time from Lakhani in Bhandara district visited NCI for cost-free screening held under NCI’s Ayushmati programme on Saturday. The group came here as part of Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s initiative being conducted under the leadership of Dr Pratibha Uday Rajhans, Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s Bouddhik Pramukh of Bhandara district, for the past three years. The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Nagpur, expresses its sincere gratitude to Tata International Vehicle Applications (TIVA) for generously donating an ambulance to support patients in need. The ambulance was formally handed over to NCI by Mr Anjani Kumar Srivastava, Chief Financial Officer, TIVA, and Mr Yogesh Tapkire, Deputy General Manager – HR/IR, TIVA.
On behalf of NCI, Mr Shailesh Joglekar, General Secretary and CEO, accepted the keys and documents of the ambulance and thanked TIVA for its thoughtful and compassionate gesture.
Earlier, Mr Srivastava, Mr Tapkire, and the TIVA team toured NCI’s facilities and interacted with the institute’s management and medical teams, gaining insights into its services and patient care initiatives.

Dr Vishwa D.B. Mahadeo, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and Director General of the country’s Ministry of Public Health, along with Mr Dharamkumar Seeraj, Guyana’s High Commissioner to India, visited the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Nagpur, on Monday. The visit marked a significant step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Government of Guyana and NCI in the field of cancer care.
Expressing his government’s commitment to providing quality cancer care to its citizens, Dr Mahadeo said Guyana was keen to develop a comprehensive cancer care facility in the country. Impressed by NCI’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced treatment facilities, and the expertise of its clinical and non-clinical teams, he proposed seeking NCI’s technical and institutional support.
“Our government wants to build a comprehensive cancer care facility in Guyana, for which collaboration with NCI would be invaluable,” said Dr Mahadeo. He added that he would place a proposal before the Guyana Government to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NCI to strengthen the country’s national programme for sustainable and quality cancer care. Dr Mahadeo, a surgeon, interacted with NCI’s consultants and participated in the Tumour Board meeting.
Shailesh Joglekar, General Secretary and CEO of the National Cancer Institute, and Dr Anand Pathak, Medical Director of NCI, assured Dr Mahadeo and Mr Seeraj of NCI’s full cooperation. “The NCI management will extend complete support to the Government of Guyana in this important humanitarian initiative,” Joglekar said, while sharing insights into the establishment and efficient administration of NCI.
Dr Pathak provided a detailed overview of NCI’s clinical services and infrastructure, explaining the systems and practices that have helped the institute evolve into a cancer care centre of international standards.

A group of 21 women from Nagpur Nagar Jyeshtha Maheshwari Sabha joined the National Cancer Institute’s flagship programme “Ayushmati” — a step towards a cancer-free society. The initiative is dedicated to women’s health, offering cost-free cancer screening that emphasizes early detection, treatment, and awareness. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and driven by compassion, Ayushmati ensures that no woman is left behind in the fight against cancer. Reflecting the NCI mission — Detect early, Act early, Save lives — more than 4,600 women already been screened free of cost under this transformative program. As awareness and trust in preventive health continue to grow, Ayushmati stands as a symbol of community-centered care. The visit was initiated by Ramratan Sarda Medical Help Society, Nagpur. Society's Hon. Secretary Shri Ashok Chandak wrote a letter to the NCI Management thanking it for conducting the screening programme, and promised collaboration in the future, too.
