Cardiac arrest* is an electrical problem of the heart which leads to malfunction and unexpected stoppage of the heart !
*Heart Attack* is a circulation problem which occurs when blood supply to the heart is blocked.
Both are different entities.
Many people answered on FB n what's app correctly. I am really glad that few non medicos are also aware of the difference.
The difference in two entities is important as both have different prognosis!
Both are treatable n preventable 👍
Cardiac arrest needs CPR on the spot, as it's a life threating emergency, where untreated person can die within seconds to minutes. Hence society.. general public need to learn Basic Life Support methods.
Heart Attack needs immediate primary care with hospitalization in a cardiac set up for emergency management. SCA claims one life every 90 seconds. The survival rates could be double or triple if more people know what to do during sudden cardiac arrest!
