Vedant Hospital in association with Smile train foundation does free surgeries for patients of Cleft Lip & Palate since 2008.

At the recent Annual Conference of the Association of plastic Surgeons of India, at Bhubaneswar, DR RAJENDRA NEHETE (Plastic , microvascular and hand surgeon
Vedant Hospital , Nashik)
has been awarded the prestigious PEET prize award for the best paper presentation in senior category for the paper "Functional restoration of the bilateral hand amputee at the wrist level: alternative to hand Allo-transplantation or Prosthesis". This is given for the innovative idea and ex*****on which can make impact in India and worldwide

25 year, male patient had presented with Bilateral hand crush injury leading to amputation of both hands at the Wrist level. In the span of one week, for functional restoration, we reconstructed both the hands using 6 toe transfers and 3 free microvascular flaps in 2 staged surgery. This is the first of its kind surgery in the world where in patient has 6 toes transferred to hand in just 2 stages. He has joined back in the same factory with good rehabilitation at the workplace and is totally independent of others for the activities of daily living.
