Dental impaction is a condition where a tooth is blocked from emerging fully through the gums due to various reasons, including overcrowding, improper alignment, or other dental issues. When a tooth is impacted, it can cause pain, swelling, and infection.

Dental impaction can be treated through a procedure called dental impaction surgery, also known as dental extraction. This involves removing the impacted tooth surgically by making an incision in the gum tissue and removing any bone blocking the tooth.

The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, or in some cases, general anesthesia may be used. After the tooth is removed, the area is cleaned, and the gum tissue is stitched back together.

It's important to follow proper post-operative care instructions to prevent complications such as infection, bleeding, and dry socket. It's also essential to maintain good oral hygiene to prevent future dental issues.
