🌍 World Pneumonia Day – November 12
“Breathe Healthy, Live Strong”
As a cardiorespiratory physiotherapist, I see firsthand how pneumonia can severely affect the breathing, energy, and overall health of a person. Pneumonia isn’t just an infection of the lungs; it can affect oxygen levels, mobility, and even the potential to recover from other diseases.
Physiotherapy plays a major role in the management and recovery from pneumonia by:
• Improved lung expansion and oxygenation through breathing exercises.
• Assisting in airway clearance to remove mucus and secretions.
• Early mobilization to prevent complications and enhance recovery
• Teaching patients about postural drainage, coughing techniques, and home exercises.
Prevention is powerful:
• Get vaccinated, particularly the risk groups such as the elderly, children, and people suffering from chronic illnesses.
• Practice good hand hygiene.
• Most importantly: keep active and have good respiratory health.
• Early initiation of medical treatment if experiencing fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
Let’s work together, raise awareness, and help everyone breathe a little easier. Every breath counts .
