Brain Aneurysm Surgery - 45 Y F presented with brain hemorrhage . Brain angiography demonstrated a brain aneurysm- balooning of critical artery. Patient underwent a brain surgery for clipping of Acom aneurysm . Patient did not have any post operative complications and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Post surgery angiography demonstrated complete obliteration of aneurysm. Aneurysm surgery is a high risk procedure .

Cervical C2-C5 Intramedullary Lesion - ependymoma. A 26 Y M presented with a cervical spine tumor . Thie tumor was placed inside the spinal cord in the region of 2nd to 5th cervical vertebrae. The patient already had developed weakness in all four limbs and weakness was progressive in nature . The location of this type of tumor is a surgical challenge and extremely high risk surgery for the patient . Any complication can cause permanent paralysis of whole body and patient may become dependent on ventilator . A high risk surgery was performed and tumor was identified after opening the spinal cord. Complete Excision of tumor was performed . Patient had satisfactory recovery and didnot suffer any complications during surgery. Post operative MRI performed at 3 months after surgery demonstrated complete Excision of tumor .

Giant Brainstem Hemangioblastoma- 30 Y M presented with a giant tumor in posterior part of the brain . The tumor was related closely with the most important center of the brain- brainstem . This type of tumor is composed of blood vessels and has very high chance of excessive bleeding during surgery . The location and size of tumor made it very challenging . Any complication in this type of surgery can have devasating consequeences including mortality during surgery .A craniotomy was performed with complete excsion of tumor. Post operative CT Scan demonstarted complete excision of tumor . Patient had a satisfactory outcome after surgery .

Brain Tumor- A 7 Y old presented with severe symptoms of headache , vomiting , difficulty in swallowing and walking .MRI revealed a large brain tumor in posterior part of the brain - Giant Ependymoma . A craniotomy and complete excision of this highly vascular brain tumor was performed without any complications . Post op CT scan demonstrated complete excision of the tumor. Patient had satisfactory recovery on follow up .

These are complex cases where spine needs to be fixed with screws to prevent progression of paralysis or weakness. Sometimes the top most bonesof the neck C1 C2 i.e vertebra no 1 and 2 are not developed properly and are more mobile . They cause injury to critical part of spinal cord and cause weakness or paralysis in the patient. Only treatment is high precision surgery where titanium screws are placed in bones to fix the bones . Any complication in this surgery can be disastrous for the patient resulting in permanent paralysis and ventilator dependence . Sometimes head is mobile and it also needs to be fixed with screws.
