Indian Head Injury Foundation Preventing Head & Spine Injuries, Improving Pre-Hospital Care and Providing Rehabilitation

The Indian Head Injury Foundation (IHIF) was founded by His Highness Maharaja Gajsingh II of Jodhpur in February 2007, with a mission to build a comprehensive system in India for the prevention of head and spine injuries and and to provide neuro-rehabilitation to such patients and victims. Four types of Educational activities are presently conducted by IHIF:
• Primary trauma Care Courses (PTC)
• Awareness on Road Safety
• Neuro Critical Care and Home Rehab Workshops
• Neuro rehabilitation Workshops

Currently we run three high quality neuro rehabilitation centres (Jodhpur, Patna & Delhi) which provide excellent post trauma care to the needy and weaker sections of the society.

Assessment of Shooting athletes conducted at Patliputra Gun & Shooting Academy.

Common issues observed: shoulder overuse injuries, low back ache, and postural pain due to prolonged training and sustained shooting posture.

To better understand the mechanism of these injuries, we also experienced the sport ourselves. This hands-on approach helped us gain deeper insight into the physical demands of shooting, which cannot be fully understood through observation alone.

The findings reinforced that prolonged training and posture play a key role in overuse injuries among shooting athletes.

IHIF at the 7th SIAM CSR Conclave 2026

IHIF participated in the 7th SIAM CSR Conclave during the thematic session on Educational and Corporate Outreach towards CSR Pillars.

This platform allowed us to highlight a crucial message — CSR is not charity; it is a shared responsibility.

While road safety conversations often focus on fatalities, it is equally important to address morbidity and permanent disability, which remain among the most neglected areas in public health.

At IHIF, our work spans the full continuum :- from promoting helmet use and traffic compliance to post-crash rehabilitation, first responder training, patient support groups, caregiver training, and providing assistive devices for underserved communities.

Sustainable CSR partnerships can play a vital role in bridging critical gaps in post-crash care and rehabilitation.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share our journey and to explore stronger industry–NGO collaborations towards building safer and more inclusive communities.

In the Thematic Session: Educational and Corporate Outreach towards CSR Pillars of 7th SIAM CSR Conclave, Dr. Chitra ., CEO, Indian Head Injury Foundation (IN), said, “CSR is a shared responsibility. Working in the space of road safety and health, we drive awareness campaigns promoting helmet use ...

A Day of Meaningful Engagement at Apna Ghar Ashram

Conducted an Occupational Therapy (OT) camp at Apna Ghar Ashram, where residents actively participated in a range of engaging and therapeutic activities.

In collaboration with psychology volunteers, we facilitated synchronized singing and cognitive exercises designed to enhance attention, memory, and social interaction.

From an Occupational Therapy perspective, the session included eye–hand coordination tracking activities and body part awareness exercises, helping improve motor skills, proprioception, and overall sensorimotor integration.

Overall this was an interactive and joyful session.
