From Diagnosis to Devotion — A Mother’s Unseen Journey 💙

This Mother’s Day, we’re not just celebrating flowers and breakfast in bed.

We’re honouring the mothers who became caregivers overnight.

The mothers who cry silently in bathrooms and then walk out smiling.

The mothers who Googled what Type 1 diabetes even is — and now handle it with such grace & strength.

We’re honouring warriors like Ritika, today.

Her daughter was only 17 months old when life changed forever.

A diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes is not just a medical condition — it’s a life sentence of vigilance. And it didn’t come with a manual.

But Ritika, like countless other T1D moms, didn’t flinch.

She rolled up her sleeves and stepped into a storm she never saw coming.

She learned to prick tiny fingers and inject tiny arms with steady hands and a steady heart — even when her own heart shattered.💔

She put her own dreams on pause — not out of obligation, but from unconditional love. She became her daughter’s strongest advocate, nurse, comforter, and guide — all in one.

Every day now is a new lesson — in patience, resilience, nutrition, blood sugars, hope, and heartbreak.

And yet, she shows up. Fully. Fiercely. Unconditionally.

Because that’s what mothers do.

They fight the unseen battles.
They catch the meltdowns and mop up the fears.
They protect, they provide, and they pray in silence.
They live their child’s pain so their child doesn’t have to live it alone.

Ritika isn’t just a mom.
She’s a living example of what it means to rebuild your life — with love as your foundation and courage as your compass.

To every mother of a child with Type 1 — we see you.

We honour your strength. ✌🏻

And today, we say with all our hearts — you are the reason your child smiles through the storm.

Happy Mother’s Day to the real heroes. The silent warriors raising warriors. The Super Moms. 💙

Our hearts are full after World diabetes day event. DIYA has continued to overcome obstacles and provide services for those living with diabetes.

On the occasion of , the DIYA team set up a Diabetes screening camp in collaboration with an Asian Business school, taking the outreach to the most afflicted by the burden of poverty. Those for whom access to healthcare has often been far distant and who are often left ignored in healthcare delivery of diabetes care.

Around 250+ young adults and children were screened for diabetes with special focus on awareness around that can usually be identified early in children

DIYA team along with community activists of Asian Business School provided free blood sugar testing and consultation to the underserved communities in Hajipur also contributed by spreading awareness through group learning sessions & poster distribution.

Let’s come together & continue to make a difference to ensure more people get access to diabetes care & right for diabetes education 💙🙏

Every year, the World Diabetes Day (WDD) campaign focuses on a dedicated theme that runs for one or more years. Access to Diabetes Care is the theme for 2022. The theme is based on the fact that people with diabetes require ongoing support to manage their condition and avoid complications – with access to insulin, oral medicines, self-monitoring, self-management education, psychological support and access to a healthy diet and physical activity. 🙌🏻

For people with diabetes, awareness levels may be unique to their journey with diabetes — from experienced to novice. Since diabetes is a chronic condition with a direct impact on one’s health, there’s a crucial need to raise awareness about the prevalence of diabetes to educate people who may not understand the symptoms, risk factors, and treatment options.🩸💉

Today, Diabetes India Youth in Action team will be conducting a free blood sugar screening camp for young children and underprivileged families living in Hajipur village in collaboration with 💙🎉

Together, our efforts can make an impact in the lives of those at risk and those living with diabetes.💪🏻🤍

GOOD NEWS 🎉 NAVYA BACK TO SCHOOL 😊

Together, we were able to overcome the severe social prejudice that exists around those who have Type 1 diabetes.

We are thrilled to announce that because to our combined efforts, Navya will soon be able to return to school. We strongly believe that any child who has diabetes must feel secure and protected at school and must not lose any of their education as a result of receiving a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis.

Education is a fundamental human right! And we must continue to work together to bring justice to the many additional "Navyas" who miss school due to their medical issues.

We will soon be launching our new project. Stay tuned for more updates!

Another alarming instance that occurred in the city included a young student who was expelled from a Indirapuram Public school, Crossings Replublic Ghaziabad in the middle of her term due to a Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis (T1D). Navya is a bright young child who is eager to go to school, but she has allegedly been prevented from doing so for the past seven months because she got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

Despite her parents' and family members' repeated pleadings and appeals, the school administration ignored all of them and unlawfully expelled the girl.

The school turned the child away and said that they did not have the provision to cater to the needs of diabetic children, which was a blatant breach of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act.

As soon as we heard from their family, DIYA members made the decision to handle the situation since this is blatant discrimination on the part of the school and a lie given that the school does not require any special equipment to accommodate a child with T1D, as long as the child is well-equipped,

I feel tricked, Navya's mother said in a statement. The school has shown no compassion or willingness to help my daughter get the education that she is entitled to. Every day, my daughter asks when she will return to school, and I never know how to answer her.

DIYA members and spoke to the IAS officer for the Ghaziabad district, Vikram Aditya Nath, and Education officer Vikram Kumar Mishra to enable Navya return to school after they were turned down by the school administration. We’re grateful to them for hearing us out and helping us to get this issue sorted at the earliest.

They have pledged to file this complaint and make sure Navya resumes her studies from coming week. (The video includes further details)

This video is being shared to raise awareness of the continuous social prejudice that people with diabetes experience on a daily basis. It's time to take action so that no one with diabetes is denied a fundamental human right.
