Tips
1. Improve your stomach muscles. Ballerinas have incredibly strong abs because engaging your stomach muscles improves your balance. Do things such as crunches/reverse crunches (sit-ups work the hip flexors, and are hard on the lower back, so avoid them) and you should notice an improvement to your balance.
2. Take up a sport that requires balance, such as martial arts, horseback riding, skateboarding, yoga, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, or cheerleading as well as Parkour or Free running. Not only will you get to practice your balance, your teacher should be full of balancing tips.
3. Also, try and learn to juggle. It improves a different kind of balance called: Neurophysical balance. It takes time and patience to learn. However, it is very rewarding and you get to show it off to your friends.
4. Another VERY fun way to improve balance is to get an indo board. It's a fun little product that makes you balance on a board that balances on a log. I highly recommend getting it. Or Build-a-Balance-Board!
5. Take a gymnastics class.
6. Set up posts in your backyard that are arranged in two close set rows of three, the first two posts being the shortest at around one foot tall. Each consecutive post should increase in height by about a foot and a half. Practice walking up and down on top of the posts. Slowly at first. Speed up as your balance gets better.(it's a good idea to do this in a grassy area or lay mats or pads around the posts in case you fall off.
