Finger drop but wrist can still lift?

If a patient cannot extend the fingers or thumb, yet wrist extension is preserved and there is no sensory loss, think of Posterior Interosseous Nerve (PIN) Syndrome.

It is a pure motor branch of the radial nerve.
That’s why sensation remains intact, but finger extension is lost.

Clinical examination makes all the difference.

Burn pain is unpredictable.

First and second degree burns can be extremely painful because the nerve endings are still intact and exposed.
But in third degree burns, the nerve endings may be completely destroyed — which is why the pain can actually feel less in the burned area.

Severity does not always equal pain intensity.
Understanding burn depth is crucial for proper diagnosis and timely treatment.

Ulnar nerve symptoms but no problem at the elbow? Think beyond Cubital Tunnel Syndrome.

If numbness in the little finger, weak grip, or hand muscle wasting is present without elbow involvement, it could be Guyon’s Canal Syndrome a wrist level ulnar nerve compression.

Commonly seen in cyclists and manual laborers due to repetitive pressure at the wrist. Early diagnosis prevents permanent weakness and intrinsic muscle loss.

Recovery after brachial plexus surgery takes time, patience, and the right rehabilitation.
Hand recovery starts slowly, but with assisted movements, full range-of-motion exercises, and guided therapy, function improves step by step.

In this video, we explain the 5 stages (Grade 1 to Grade 5) of hand recovery and what each phase means for patients and caregivers on the journey back to strength and movement.

Watch the full video to understand the science behind recovery and why consistent physiotherapy is the key to success.

When a patient cannot make the “OK” sign, it is not just weakness. It can be a key clinical indicator of Anterior Interosseous Nerve Syndrome.
This motor nerve palsy affects FPL and FDP to the index finger, leading to loss of precise pinch function without any sensory deficit.

Recognizing this subtle sign early helps prevent delayed diagnosis and improves functional recovery of the hand. A small clinical test can reveal a major nerve problem.

Burns in children are not just smaller injuries, they are far more critical.
Because a child’s skin is thinner, their body loses fluids faster, and even the airway can get affected quickly. What looks minor can turn serious in minutes. Early care, right treatment, and awareness can make all the difference. Protect, prevent, and act fast.

Forearm pain while twisting your hand is not always muscle strain. It can be Pronator Teres Syndrome, where the median nerve gets compressed in the forearm.
Early recognition and guided physiotherapy help reduce pain, restore grip strength, and prevent long term nerve irritation.

Tingling in the ring and little finger?
Feeling weakness while gripping objects?

It may not be just “strain” — it could be Cubital Tunnel Syndrome, the most common nerve compression at the elbow.
This happens when the ulnar nerve gets pressured, leading to numbness, pain, and reduced hand strength.

Early diagnosis can prevent permanent nerve damage.
Don’t ignore the signs. Timely treatment, splinting, and physiotherapy can make a big difference.

Not every burn on the hand is minor.

Deep burns (2nd or 3rd degree) can damage tissues beyond the skin and may require early surgical treatment to preserve movement, prevent stiffness, and ensure proper healing. Timely care is essential to avoid long term functional loss.

If a hand burn looks small, it does not always mean the injury is superficial. Early evaluation can make a significant difference in recovery.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most common nerve problem at the wrist.
When the median nerve gets compressed, patients often notice thumb weakness, reduced finger strength, and numbness.

Conditions like diabetes and prolonged wrist strain can worsen this compression.
Early recognition is important to prevent long-term nerve damage and loss of hand function.

Firecracker injuries of the hand are often mistaken for simple burns.
In reality, they are complex injuries involving burn, chemical, and blast damage.

They may appear superficial, but are usually deep, require splinting, regular dressings, and in some cases surgical procedures like skin grafting or flap reconstruction.

These injuries should never be ignored. Early evaluation can prevent long-term loss of hand function.
