Dementia Care & Management Workshop by Hope Ek A.S.H.A.
This week, Hope Ek A.S.H.A. welcomed M.Sc. Nursing students from ILBS and Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi, for an in-depth workshop on dementia care and management—designed to bridge clinical understanding with compassionate practice.
The workshop began with a valuable session by Dr. Navdeep Kumar, Senior Consultant in Neurology at Indo Gulf Hospital, who provided clinical insights into dementia, its progression, and evidence-based management approaches, grounding the discussion in medical understanding.
Building on this foundation, Jasmine Chawla, Chief Operating Officer, introduced students to dementia care at A.S.H.A. and emphasised the importance of a multidisciplinary team in delivering holistic, person-centred care.
The focus then shifted to psychosocial aspects as Sejal Chopra, Counselling Psychologist, explored practical strategies for memory stimulation, behaviour management, and environmental modifications that enhance daily functioning and quality of life for persons with dementia.
Concluding the session, Rita Sehgal, Care Director and Editor, addressed the human side of dementia care through caregiver training, family counselling, and caregiver stress management—highlighting the emotional realities faced by families and care teams alike.
Through shared learning and real-life perspectives, the workshop reinforced a core belief: dementia care is most effective when clinical knowledge is guided by empathy, dignity, and collaboration.
Training minds. Nurturing compassionate care.
