Buddha Cancer Centre has been started by Dr Arvind Kumar, DM – (Medical Oncology, AIIMS, Delhi) with an aim to serve his native people with evidence based practice and a diagnosis and management that is in par with any Cancer centre in India. Dr.Arvind Kumar has been trained at AIIMS, New Delhi and during his training period at AIIMS he had decided to return back to Bihar and serve cancer patients in Bihar.
In fact, he is the first DM in Medical Oncology in Bihar who has returned to his native state after getting DM degree. The inspiration and vision to open a Cancer Hospital came from the suffering of Bihar Cancer patients at AIIMS, New Delhi. During his training phase he noticed that approximately 35 - 40% of Cancer patients at AIIMS were from Bihar, though this figure might seem unimaginable but this was hard fact. Poor patients and their attendants had to sleep on pavement for months to get treatment. This was not only physically traumatic but also economically as the earning members had to leave home for their patient treatment. We at Buddha Cancer Centre have decided to offer world class diagnosis and treatment planning as per latest research that even the poorest can afford.
The institution was established in 2015 with the mission to provide comprehensive care to cancer patients. Buddha Cancer Centre having 35 beds only for Cancer patients. The goal was to provide state of the art care at an affordable cost. Patients from Bihar, Jharkhand, Nepal, Assam and Kolkata have access to multidisciplinary care at this centre.
Apart from Dr.Arvind Kumar and Dr. BrajeshKumar Choudhary we have visiting Haematologist Dr. ReyazAhmed from Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Delhi. Expert and Renowned Onco-surgeon Dr.Tanveer Abdul Majeed from Fortis Raheja Hospital, Mahim, Mumbai, Dr.Rahul Kumar Choudhary from HCG -EKO Cancer Centre, Kolkata and Dr.Deepak Jha from Artemis Hospital Gurgaon routinely perform all complex Onco-Surgery at Buddha Cancer Centre, Patna, Bihar. We have Pain & Palliative clinically for extremely ill patient. We routinely adopt some poor patient and give them treatment free of cost. Our entire cancer patients get medicine at discount rates. We have performed some of the procedures first time in Bihar & Jharkhand like Microwave Ablation for treatment of Liver Cancer patients.
