πΏ Cruciferous Vegetables & Colon Cancer Prevention πΏ
A new study published in BMC Gastroenterology (2025) analyzed data from nearly 100,000 colon cancer patients and found something powerful:
β
Eating 40β60 g of cruciferous vegetables daily (like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts, bok choy, and collard greens) can reduce your colon cancer risk by about 20%.
π₯¦ Even 20β40 g/day gives the strongest protective effect per gram. Beyond 60 g/day, the benefit levels offβso a small but regular serving is enough!
These veggies contain sulforaphane and other bioactive compounds that fight inflammation, support detox pathways, and protect DNA from damage.
π But remember: Prevention is not just about diet.
Early Cancer Screening saves lives.
For those at average risk, colonoscopy is recommended starting at age 45.
If you have a family history or other risk factors, screening may need to start earlier.
Other screening tools like FIT test, sigmoidoscopy, or stool DNA testing can also help detect early disease.
π The best strategy = Healthy lifestyle + Timely screening.
