What is the difference between a Mandala and a Yantra?

It depends on the tradition a devotee follows. Tibetans for example call their circular sacred art Mandala which Santana Hindu dharma follower would see as a Yantra, including all backgrounds based on Hinduism, Yoga, Vedanta and Ta**ra. The Sanskrit word Mandala has become more popular than Yantra in the West. One can see all kinds of creations come forth out of the circler formation or mandala. Yet Yantras or the Chakra have retained a certain mysticism of fourth three triangles & the top point called Bindu. On account of its symbolism and usage in ritualistic worship.This is actually conceived as palatial residence of Devi.

Yantras are part of the ancient Ta**ra Tradition having its roots in age-old teachings from India. Yantras are used for rituals in traditional worship as they often represent a deity and they are also created and used as tools for centering and meditation purposes, and therefore have a holistic healing effect on your system.
