# Impaired mobility and loss of function are common in patients with osteoarthritis.

# Initially, the disease is characterized by non - uniform localized degeneration of articular cartilage.

# It is associated with thickening of the subchondral bone, bone growth in the margins of the joints (Osteophytes ) and inflammation of the synovium.



Approximately 25 percentage of people over age 55 report having or having had knee pain at least a few dayz a month during the previous year.

Half of these patients have changes suggestive of osteoarthritis in their knee radiographs.

Forward Head Posture: is defined when the head is placed anteriorly to that vertical line, when it occurs, this forward head posture is considered to co- exist with hyperextension of the upper cervical spine, flattering of lower cervical spine, rounding of the upper back and elevation and protraction of the shoulders.

# Forward Head Posture is usually associated with shortening of the posterior cervical extensor muscles as well as shortening of the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle.
