Wellness Counselling

Wellness Counselling A two year master's course in a strength-based approach to counselling, approved by and affiliated t This course is founded by Padma Shri awardee Dr. Fr. Fr.

Romuald D'Souza, a pioneer in the field of education. After his massive success in the establishment of Goa Institute of Management, he has now started this Postgraduate course in Wellness Counselling. This course looks at the person as a whole rather than fragmenting them into a bunch of symptoms and problems. Romuald summarises this course in simple words, "Much of the mental health providers today, seem to repair what is broken, when most of our lives are not broken." This course follows a trimester system and provides 90 credits in comparison to its other counterparts offering 80 credits. The course is not only focused on giving students the theoretical knowledge but also equipping them with practical and efficient skills to become better counsellors. We believe that learning can begin anytime anywhere as long as we keep our minds open. This is the major reason why we accept students from all educational backgrounds.

On 13th August 2025, our two SY students Elaine Fernandes and Shruti Manurkar hosted a workshop on the topic Building a Growth Mindset where we were able learn that a growth mindset begins with self-awareness. In this workshop, we explored how our beliefs shape our actions, the science behind mindset, and the power of self-talk. By learning to notice and reframe negative thoughts into positive ones, we not only strengthen a growth mindset but also nurture emotional regulation as a natural outcome. It all starts with how we speak to ourselves.

Continuing with our series on _Wellness Workshops_ , our MA Wellness students Divya Sahakari and Naintara Jain*held a workshop on ‘ _Tiny Habits, Big Impact_ ’.

The workshop session brought to focus the impact that small actions done consistently over time can form small habits that, ultimately, have a huge positive impact on realising big goals that could otherwise be overwhelming.

The workshop integrated concepts of Bandura, Skinner, and Goal theory, along with highly engaging and insightful worksheets, that helped the participants get an insight into how to stop struggling with doubts and overthink, and set out on a transformative journey, one step at a time.

On 6th August 2025, two of our MA part II students, Anzia Fernandes and Gavriella Vaiz hosted a workshop on the topic “Gratitude in Daily Life: Finding the Good in the Everyday.”

Through this engaging and heartfelt session, we discovered how gratitude is more than just saying thank you — it’s a mindset that helps us notice the small things we often overlook or forget to be grateful for. From reflection activities to building our own gratitude toolkits, we learned simple ways to practice appreciation in daily life.

By slowing down and acknowledging what truly matters, we nurture positivity, mindfulness, and emotional well-being — one thankful thought at a time.

On 30th July 2025, two students of MAWC-1, Diksha Dudeja and Chrisann Varela, conducted a gentle and heart-opening workshop on Self-Compassion. 💗
The session encouraged participants to reflect on how often they extend kindness to others but forget to offer the same warmth to themselves. Through interactive exercises and reflective discussions, the workshop helped participants understand the essence of self-kindness, emotional awareness, and acceptance.

It served as a beautiful reminder that true wellness begins with learning to treat ourselves with patience, love, and compassion. 🌷

✨ Where learning meets real-world experience! ✨
At the Department of M.A.Wellness Counseling, our students don’t just learn in classrooms, they step out and make a difference! 🌿
As part of their 3-month internship, our students conducted counselling sessions and creative workshops, putting their skills into action. 💬
Once a week, they also hosted on-campus workshops for their juniors and classmates ,turning every session into a space for reflection, growth, and connection.
On 23rd July, our SY students Saaniya Netravalkar and Shruti Manurkar led a heartwarming session titled ‘Happiness is a Skill’. 💛
A beautiful reminder that happiness isn’t just a fleeting feeling ,it’s something we can learn, practice, and strengthen. 🌻
Through mindful choices, simple habits, and everyday acts of kindness, we can nurture a deeper sense of joy and resilience. ✨
Stay tuned as we share more of our students’ thoughtfully designed and inspiring workshops! 🌼
