Google tells me that 1 in 12 men are colourblind , and 1/200 women are colourblind. That’s roughly 8 % of men in the world suffer from some amount of colour vision deficiency. And as my previous post has already explained, the genetics of the disease , you now understand why men are more affected than women.
My father and brother have RG colour vision deficiency, and my mother is a carrier ( understand the genetics from my previous post) and I am a carrier, and my son has a high possibility of being colourblind. (50% chance)
So this Holi I am creating .
Today all day on my insta stories both on and I will share images of how normal people see and how someone with Deutranomaly or RG colour vision deficiency sees.
I have kept the setting at 44% colour vision deficiency rather than 100% deficiency because the condition has variable penetrance and it isn’t as if no colour is seen at all.
In the above images you can see my son’s T-shirt has red and green stripes with grey, and the bottom image the red and the green are fuller than the original, also skin tone is duller ( RG colour deficient should not take up dermatology as a speciality ) but what really shocked me was the difference in colour when I took a picture of his playmat! The green is so much more dull, and the blue really stands out, no wonder he prefers blue to other colours.
Share your colour vision deficiency stories, and spread the awareness .
