Ear infections in babies and toddlers are extremely common.
The telltale sign of an ear infection is a pain in and around the ear. Young children can develop ear infections before they are old enough to talk. That means parents are often left guessing why their child appears to be suffering. When your child can't say "my ear hurts," the following signs suggest an ear infection could be the culprit:
• Tugging or pulling the ear
• Crying and irritability
• Difficulty sleeping
• Fever, especially in younger children
• Fluid draining from the ear
• Loss of balance
• Difficulty hearing or responding to auditory cues

If your child is presenting with these signs, consult our ENT Specialist.

It is a myth that swimmer's ear only affects swimmers. Swimmer's ear, also known as otitis externa, is an infection of the outer ear canal that can occur due to water being trapped in the ear. While swimmers are more prone to developing swimmer's ear due to prolonged exposure to water, anyone can develop the infection if they have water trapped in their ear. Additionally, other factors such as using earbuds, cleaning the ear with cotton swabs, or having an injury to the ear can also increase the risk of developing swimmer's ear.
