Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)

NAFLD if left undiagnosed can cause liver damage and over time even lead to liver cancer. One of the most common causes associated with NAFLD is a poor diet. However, a balanced, natural diet, containing a high proportion of vegetables, herbs, whole grains and limited processed foods can help prevent liver damage or even reverse it if in the early stages. Below are a few tips for a diet best suited to prevent NAFLD.

Eat a variety of vegetables and salad. (e. g. radicchio, chicory, rocket, artichokes, endive salad).
Incorporate fresh herbs (thyme, marjoram, lovage, rosemary) and wild herbs (sour sorrel, portulac, dandelion, wild garlic and much more) into your diet.
Use a lot of spices when preparing food, especially ginger, pepper, caraway, mustard, cardamom, garlic and turmeric.
Add citrus fruits such as grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and pomelo into your diet.
Drink green tea or red bush tea.

Fat is an essential nutrient that the body needs to function properly. Fats provide energy, absorb certain vitamins and minerals, help maintain body temperature, and insulate the body's vital organs. But amongst the saturated, non-saturated, trans, which type of fat should we choose?

Most dietary experts recommend eating saturated fats such as cheese, butter or coconut oil in moderation, and replacing them with unsaturated fats avocado oil, olive oil or peanut butter, but how?

You may think you need to exercise hard to burn calories throughout the day. That’s true, but you also burn a good number of calories while going about your normal daily tasks.

How much you’ll burn has to do with how much you weigh.
A lot of your daily activities like gardening, computer work, standing in line, washing car and so on burn a good amount of calories.

Knowing your to maintain your weight can also help you lose weight. So, if your daily caloric requirement to maintain your weight is 2,500 calories, you’ll need to either eat less or exercise more.

How much depends on how much weight you want to lose and how quickly you want to lose it and it’s always better to consult your dietician before you start it.

We all have those days when we look in the mirror and just don’t love what we see.

Maybe it’s the breakouts our skin keeps getting or our chronic dryness keeps flaring up, or our under eyes are determined to tell the world you didn’t rest enough. Whatever our skin issue is, there are ways to fix it that go beyond dermatologist appointments and moisturizer applications.
