PGNA was founded on 7th feb 2005 in order to solve the long term issues of the Pondicherry Government Staff Nurses. At the executive meeting conducted on 19-Jan-2006, new office bearer and executive were selected and PGNA started its journey in a right direction. After the commencement of the society the main issues like seven days night shift has been changed into three days night shift after a long struggle. Thereafter the association took on its shoulder the main issues of nurses and got it solved after a series of struggle. The PGNA until 2008 travelled all the way all alone but in 2008 it affiliated with the confederation of health employee association and confederation of Pondicherry state government employee association. Our association is not only fighting for the issues of nurses, but also for helping them in different stages.
