Sanjeevan is a special initiative by Sri Aurobindo Society in Puducherry, India, in collaboration with the Institute of Palliative Medicine (IPM) and HelpAge India. This initiative aims to practice a comprehensive, community-based approach to chronic diseases and end-of-life care based on a spiritual foundation. By taking care of their physical, emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual needs, Sanjeevan is patient-centered, not disease-focused.

The purpose of engaging in art for forgetting worries is not necessarily to create a masterpiece but to immerse oneself in the creative process and find solace in the act of creation itself. Sanjeevan volunteers are enjoying the journey, experimenting with different techniques, and letting their worries fade away as they explore the world of painting and drawing.

Glimpses of the workshop and volunteer felicitation programme held on 22 February 2023 at Puduvai Tamizh Sangam, Puducherry. Three resource persons from Kerala and Tamil Nadu and 62 community workers were felicitated. The Director of Sanjeevan, Dr Suresh, appreciated all the active community volunteers for giving their time in taking care of the palliative patients.

The recent heavy downpour had brought misery to the lives of many. Sanjeevan, the Palliative Care Wing of Sri Aurobindo Society along with Nestle distributed 500 food kits to families that were heavily affected by these rains. The team concentrated on Villianur and Bahour villages this time as they were the worst affected. Sanjeevan is planning to reach out to more people with the constant support of donors.
