Ferritin Test

A ferritin test measures the amount of ferritin in your blood. Ferritin is a blood protein that contains iron. A ferritin test helps your doctor understand how much iron your body stores.

However, ferritin levels are unreliable in:
1)Acute or chronic inflammation.
2)CKD.
3)Heart failure.
4)Liver disease.
5)Excessive alcohol intake.
6)Malignancy.
7)Hyperthyroidism.

Thalassemia - All you need to know

Thalassemia (thal-uh-SEE-me-uh) is an inherited blood disorder that causes your body to have less hemoglobin than normal. Hemoglobin enables red blood cells to carry oxygen.

This test measures the amount of creatine kinase (CK) in the blood. CK is a type of protein, known as an enzyme.
It is mostly found in your skeletal muscles and heart, with lesser amounts in the brain. Skeletal muscles are the muscles attached to your skeleton.

Phenylketonuria(PKU)

A birth defect that causes an amino acid called phenylalanine to build up in the body.
Newborns should be screened for PKU.
Symptoms:
Untreated phenylketonuria can lead to brain damage, intellectual disabilities, behavioural symptoms or seizures.

Rheumatoid Arthritis ( RA) Test

The RF blood test checks for a protein called rheumatoid factor. High levels of rheumatoid factor are associated with autoimmune diseases, especially RA.
Anticitrullinated protein antibody test (anti-CCP). This test looks for an antibody that's associated with RA.

Cardiac enzyme studies Test

Cardiac enzyme studies measure the levels of enzymes and proteins that are linked with injury of the heart muscle.
The test checks for the proteins troponin I (TnI) and troponin T (TnT). The test might also check for an enzyme called creatine kinase (CK).

Fistula - All you need to know

Fistulas form when inflammation causes sores, or ulcers, to form on the inside wall of the intestine or nearby organs.
Those ulcers can extend through the entire thickness of the bowel wall, creating a tunnel to drain the pus from the infected area. An abcess, or a collection of pus, can also cause a fistula to form.
