How Varicose Veins Form?

Do you know how varicose veins form? Well, Varicose veins get formed, because the valves present in the veins that should prevent blood from flowing backward stops working as they should. Our veins have one-way valves i.e. valves that open only to one side allowing blood flow to only one direction and it helps to carry blood back to the heart.

Blood can pool or back up in the veins if these valves present in veins are weak or damaged. This ultimately causes our veins to swell resulting in what is known as Varicose Veins.

How do you get Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins are the superficial veins that become enlarged, swollen, and twisted. These veins are also known as varicosities or varicoses. Do you really want to know, how do you get varicose veins? Generally, varicose veins occur when our superficial vein walls and valves don't function properly. When the dysfunctioning of the vein happens, it causes the vein to swell. These swollen veins then become visibly enlarged and may bulge. Which ultimately may cause overfilling of tiny capillaries and purple discoloration.

When valves present in veins get weak or damaged, blood flows back towards the feet causing veins to get stretched or twisted. This is how the formation of Varicose veins happens. These enlarged, stretched veins are known as Varicose Veins.
