When one thinks of yoga they usually imagine an individual or a bunch of people doing asanas for health and fitness of their body.
When one thinks of therapy, it usually involves a therapist and client sitting and talking for the improvement of the mental health of the client.

People often have certain queries and questions as to what does therapy exactly entail? They often fill this void of information with common myths and taboos that are usually passing around in one’s surroundings.
If you are one of those who are curious to learn more about what to expect when you go for therapy, do keep reading!

The most common apprehension or hesitation from my friends and family when it comes to going for their first therapy session is -
What will I even go and talk to them about? What if I am done talking and there’s an awkward silence lingering?
More often than not, there is a set of preconceived notions we hold regarding what a therapy session will look like, and it's often an uncomfortable scenario. It’s quite understandable to be able to feel this sort of resistance initially, as unearthing your trauma, sadness and hurt in front of somebody you have just met can be quite unnerving.

So why should you let go of your apprehensions and fears regarding therapy? And how?

This world health day, we urge you to prioritise your mental health along with your physical health.
We all do a number of things the entire day to maintain our physical health and hygiene, no matter how little of an effort we might put into it - things like eating, showering, brushing, drinking water, exercising etc. We make sure at each moment that there is no physical discomfort to our bodies. So then why is it that we don't give the same importance to our mental health and discomforts? Why is there a delay when it comes to addressing our mental health needs?

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder which globally affects around 2.8 million people as of 2015. Neurodevelopmental disorders usually refer to disorders wherein the development of the nervous system is often affected resulting in abnormal brain functioning.
The main symptoms that it’s usually characterized by are social/communication deficits and rigid or restrictive behavior.
The thinking and learning abilities of people with ASDs can vary – from gifted to severely limited.

• What is the Autism Rights Movement? •

The autism rights movement is a social movement within the realm of disability rights that focuses on the concept of neurodiversity, regarding the autism spectrum as a result of naturally occurring variations in the human brain rather than a disorder to be cured.
The autism rights movement advocates for including greater awareness and acceptance of autistic behaviors; therapies that focus on coping skills rather than on limiting the behaviors of those with autism, and the recognition of the autistic community as a minority group. Autism rights or neurodiversity advocates believe that the autism spectrum is genetic and should be accepted as a natural expression of the human genome.
