It was their first time on a beach.
Up they were early after a sound night’s sleep in a seaside Army establishment in Marve, Malad. The adjacent barren beach soon had a bunch of excited and chirpy girls all over...
From a long ride at sea in a RIB to building castles in the sand...even carrying out the burial of numerous lifeless sea creatures left behind by the receding tide...they made every moment count...
Several girls etched on the wet sand...one word...
_Ghar_...

They train to win an Olympic Gold.
The Army Yachting Node (AYN) located on the seafront in Colaba, Mumbai has produced numerous Gold Medalists at the International and Asian championship levels.
Our girls were given a briefing on sailing by one such champion.
They had a wonderful time zipping on RIBs on the waters.
Thank you AYN!

Into her belly they entered...
They slid through her hatch and climbed down the ladder...and entered her confined tubular hull...
She appeared nondescript from the outside. What they saw within bedazzled our girls no end...a thriving world breathed within her...the bridge, the torpedo section, the narrow living quarters for the crew, the tiny gallery (kitchen) and the small wardroom (on-board officers mess)...every inch of the space put to vital use...
Docked she was with her submerged hull...but the might of INS Vajir was clearly discernible...
How can the driver see outside with no windows?…a lil’ one queried about the black hull submarine.
You will learn girl…and much more…
That’s a promise...

A salute to our Indian Navy...
Our school bus entered the high security zone of the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai after extensive security checks.
The lovely weather and gentle breeze added to the serenity...and thrill…on standing atop the deck of INS Kochi, a 164 metres Destroyer of the Indian Navy.
From the Bridge to the museum gallery to the Ward Room (on board Officers Mess) and other sections of the ship, our girls looked in awe at a floating fighting machine of the Navy.
Insightful briefing by officers...warm hospitality...gifts for each girl and snacks on board...thank you!
I want to join the Navy some said as we headed back. Yes you will!

They learnt to eat noodles with chopsticks!
They grow on you. So they have on corporates and organisations who visit Ghar and interact with our girls. These entities are playing a wider role in the education and holistic development of our girls.
A novel gesture it was on the part of Hotel Blue Diamond, the oldest Five Star Hotel of Pune to conduct a session on table etiquettes for our girls.
Our girls were taught table etiquettes with plenty of goodies to dig their forks and knives into!
Thank you!

The fragrance of Ghar has indeed spread.
Fifty grassroots change-makers who are meaningfully impacting society were selected from all over the country after extensive research and invited to present their work and journey during the 1st National Changemakers Meet held at Banas, Gujarat. Ghar was amongst them.
The event was well organised and attended by Govt, Political and IAS luminaries.
Ghar stood out on account of the deep and qualitative impact it is making in the lives of her children and received a standing ovation.
This recognition stems not just on account of our children and team but equally from the encouragement and blessings of all those who are a part of the journey of Ghar…the journey to make a difference to the lives of people.

She finally did it… Dahi Handi celebrations.
Our pretty Radha and Krishna were quite overawed by all the attention they received on Janmashtami.

Some bikers dropped by on Independence Day...our girls lost no opportunity to sit atop their majestic bikes.
We’ll be riding them one day…the adventurous ones echoed. Yes you will!
Hum kisse se kam nahin!

A special day it was...
Special because of the occasion...our 79th Independence Day.
Special because the Commandant of BEG & Centre graced the occasion and hoisted our National flag.
Special because the children of Manavya Foundation participated in the celebrations and performed on stage.
Ghar trod on a hitherto virgin path…a path on which the grass needed wear…by visiting Manavya Foundation and mingling with their children and having them amongst us...the very first for them.
We won our independence from colonial raj years back.
We now seek independence from stigmatising fellow humans because they are HIV+ve and seek to give them opportunities like any other.
They are our very own…and we wish the very best for them. Thank you Manavya for joining us and making the celebration even more special.
Manavya cares for HIV+ve children.
Happy Independence Day!

They are separated...but bonded together by blood and feelings.
Several of our girls have brothers admitted in boys orphanages. We occasionally send our girls to meet them.
On rakshabandhan, girls who have brothers and some more tied rakhis on the wrists of all boys housed in the two orphanages where their brothers are housed - a practice we have always followed.
Wonderful it was to see the smiles on their faces when they returned.

We’ve won our first two matches she said excitedly!
Amongst the first to make Ghar her home more then three years back she has blossomed into a young teen with her two likewise aged sisters...3 Idiots and Best Sisters Forever they proudly call themselves.
From far away Bangalore she had called...a player of the Kabaddi team of her school which was participating in the inter Kendriya Vidyalaya Kabaddi competition.
Her team did not make it ahead...but she gained so much with the overall experience...her game...team spirit...new friends...her first train journey...a new city to see...
Proud we are of you girl. Well done!

Ghar - A charitable home of Sant Ishwar Foundation
Each one of us has a desire to do something for those who are lesser fortunate than us. Each one does so in one’s own ways. Some are fortunate to be able to give wings to their dreams. Ghar is an outcome of one such dream.
Ghar is about hope, future, security, education, care and affection; Ghar is about feelings, emotions and above all Ghar is about love. Ghar is what each one of us cherishes in our hearts.
Ghar encompasses several ‘homes’ that will house orphans/ marginalised children, paralysed women and the elderly. Each component will complement the others. Ghar is managed by Sant Ishwar Foundation, a registered public charitable trust which was formed in December 2018 to serve humanity. We have come a long way since then. The civil infrastructure to house Ghar has been constructed. Furnishing work of the homes is in progress.
In the first phase, the homes for paralysed women and the elderly will be opened. Registration of inmates for these homes has commenced. In the second phase, the orphanage/ child care home will commence operations.
The facilities for the homes include recreation rooms, a play area with children’s playground equipment, a Prayer Hall, a gym, a large area with a garden, sit outs and swings, a Doctors cabin for inpatient checkups and treatment, a laundry room, backup power, solar water heating systems, laundry services and 24 hours security.
All donations are exempt from tax u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
