APACRS 2025
Ahmedabad
Masterclasses, Talks, meeting mentors, hugging friends, and bowing to theGurus.
In this day, with everything online, techniques, technology, and knowledge, one often wonders why one must go to these conferences.
My answer is in these photos.
To meet these amazing humans, to be comforted by their warmth and their smiles, to hear and tell our stories, share experiences, to cheerlead and to be cheered on.
It is for that Human experience.

Happy and Honoured to share some glimpses of my recent project with Orbis International in Kigali, Rwanda.
This was the first programme by Orbis and the flying eye hospital in the country and I was invited as a Volunteer Surgeon.
My role for the week was to teach Phacoemulsification Cataract Surgery in the State-of-the-art Operating Theatre on the Flying Eye Hospital and also spent a couple of days in the Local hospital.
My students had a chance to perform hands-on phacoemulsification surgeries for the first time.

This was my 3rd project with Orbis as a Volunteer and I am grateful to every single team member, staff and volunteer.
The culture, positivity, and enthusiasm of every team member at Orbis is unmatched.
The goal of every project is not only to enhance local resources but to teach local doctors so they can improve patient outcomes.

Drop your Book suggestions in the Comments below.

Calling all Readers, Non readers, and
aspiring readers.
I have struggled to read through a book in over a year.
Blame short form content, low attention span, and life in general. And I hear that some of you have struggled too.
Time to change that.
Here is how:
1. Drop your Book suggestions in the comments.
2. Pick any book you want to read.
3. We don’t need to pick the same book.
4. Every month (mid month), I’ll ask you to comment on a book post and share your stories about which book you read, why you recommend it, and what was the takeaway. Or you can just drop a name and nothing more.
5. Other readers will look at the comments/ stories and be inspired to pick up a new book to read.
6. No pressure, no compulsion.
7. It’s a book suggestion club!

Happy Father’s Day!
2 photos, 35 years apart.
Dad started his practice in the heart of Pune, and 25 years later I joined him.
Working with Dad everyday is a blessing.
The best boss, super chilled out, I am so lucky to learn from him and so lucky that he is always eager to learn from me.
I can’t think of a day where we have ever disagreed on anything in our practice.
Dad has imbibed his principles, ethics and ways in me and we share a passion to keep our practice balanced and enjoyable.
This is something that truly is priceless.
The added bonus is the endless Dad jokes, making sure I eat breakfast before 2pm and seeing the pride on his face when I complete a complex surgery.

Happy Father’s Day Dad! Forever grateful!

It’s World Thyroid Day!

42 million Indians have thyroid disease.
Up to 10 percent of middle aged women have some form of Hypothyroidism.
Hypothyroidism can be lifestyle related and Autoimmune and most commonly linked with chronic stress!

👁️‍🗨️ Thyroid disease and the eye are very closely linked.
Dryness of the eyes and swelling around the lids is very common in Thyroid disorders.
Thyroid diseases also can lead to weakness of the cornea, lid drooping, and sometimes bulging of the eyes and infiltration of the eye muscles.

✅ It is essential to get a yearly Thyroid check up specially if you see weight fluctuations, or find a change in your mood and energy.

Regular exercise, a healthy diet and stress management are key to enable a healthy thyroid function.
Do NOT fall for FAD diets as these may worsen your thyroid health.

On a personal note, I have lived with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis for over 20 years.
I want to share how this invisible illness really sets you back.
Some days getting out of bed, or squashing your foot into a shoe is impossible.
The weight fluctuations, puffy face, low energy some days are a struggle.
So if you do know or live with someone with Hypothyroidism, support them, every day is different.
I promise we are trying our best!

November photo dump from the Clinic!
This month was a lot of work and a lot of play!
So many Diwali celebrations, weddings, our insanely successful Children’s day event, and special birthdays!

We also bought some new technology for the clinic to improve patient outcomes.

November saw a big number of patients signing for IRPL to treat dry eye disease and opting for under eye fillers.

Always grateful for the love and support.

To all our patients who have trusted us, thank you.

Love and peace from,
Drs Moolani Sr and Jr
& the whole team

*All patients and parents have signed a social media release to use their photos and identities.
