Electricwala Hospital and Clinic (EHC) has been involved in training young budding orthopedic doctors during a 6 month fellowship programme over the past 4 years.
The fellowship programme consists of:
1) The Smith and Nephew Hip and Knee Arthroplasty fellowship
2) Theory classes covering all the principles of Primary and Revision Hip and Knee Arthroplasty
3) Knee Arthroscopy and sport injuries of the knee
4) Extremity Trauma and General Orthopaedic practise

Stipend: Rs 40,000/month; Self-accommodation

Prerequisite: MS/D-Orth/ DNB- Ortho degree with minimum two years experience

Fast Track Knee Replacement
Patients undergoing Total knee Arthroplasty can now be up and about quickly because of fast track knee replacement protocols such as:

1)Minimising blood loss by use of drugs such as tranexamic acid, use of machines such as tourniquet and avoiding drains

2) Advanced pain management protocols such as anaesthesia blocks for numbing pain, anaesthesia and analgesia cocktails injected during surgery and post operative multi-modal analgesia

3) Early mobilisation and quick rehabilitation

These protocols now enable our patients to go home within 2-3 days after single knee and 3-4 days after both knee operations
