Is partial knee replacement better than total knee replacement?

The answer depends on the extent of knee joint damage. Some patients may benefit from replacing only the damaged part of the knee, while others may require a full knee replacement.

In this video, we explain:

✔️ What partial knee replacement is
✔️ What total knee replacement involves
✔️ When each procedure is recommended
✔️ Benefits and limitations of both options

The right treatment depends on proper assessment of the knee joint and the severity of arthritis.

The recently concluded 42nd MOACON 2026 was truly a celebration of Legacy, Leadership and Learning — blending innovation, pursuing excellence and harnessing talent.
As the Patron of MOACON 2026, it was an honour to witness the coming together of brilliant minds at the Hyatt Regency, Viman Nagar, Pune.
It was a pleasure to be Convenor for multiple academic sessions including Shoulder Arthroscopy, Knee Cartilage, Multiligament Instability. Each session reflected the depth of evolving orthopaedic science and the importance of collaborative learning.
I also had the opportunity to contribute as faculty during the session on Vision for MOA – Lessons in Leadership and Administration, sharing insights on leadership beyond clinical practice.
One of the most meaningful discussions was the session on“Orthopedic Stalwarts in Philanthropic Work where I presented on ‘ Philantrophy – How It can be a part of your day to day life.’ This session highlighted how while continuing our profession, how we can still do philantrophic work.
The session on AR/VR & Simulation in Orthopaedics showcased how digital technology is reshaping training, precision and the future of our specialty.
We also had a SIOR Alumni Meet & Greet event & it was great to reconnect with generations of alumni who continue to carry forward a shared vision of excellence.
My sincere gratitude to the Dr. Narayan Karne, Dr.Sachin Abane, Dr. Shailesh Hadgaonkar & entire Organising committee who tirelessly worked round the clock to make MOACON 2026 a resounding success. Also, special thanks to President Dr. Sampat Dumbre Patil and Secretary Dr. Abhijeet Wahegaonkar for all their efforts to make MOACON 2026 a resounding success.
Conferences like these reaffirm that orthopaedics is not just a science — it is a collective commitment to innovation, education and service.

Can knee arthritis be reduced and controlled?

The answer depends on the stage and severity of the condition. While advanced arthritis may not be completely reversible, early and moderate knee arthritis can often be effectively managed with the right treatment plan.

In this video, Dr Parag Sancheti explains:

✔️ What happens to the knee joint in arthritis
✔️ Whether cartilage damage can be reversed
✔️ Non-surgical treatment options
✔️ Role of weight management & exercise

Thank you Team TNOACON for an outstanding TNOA Annual Conference 2026 at Courtallam.
As the saying goes, “Never before, never again…” — and truly, this conference has set the benchmark remarkably high.
The choice of venue was breathtaking, the hospitality impeccable, and the food absolutely delightful. The academic sessions were enriching and thoughtfully curated, with all halls witnessing excellent delegate participation throughout. The social evenings were equally vibrant and enjoyable.
It is evident that months of meticulous planning and tireless effort have culminated in a truly memorable conference. The memories of TNOACON 2026 continue to linger fondly in my mind.
I was particularly inspired by the President’s theme, “Educate the Society & Enlighten the Fraternity.” The conference and the various initiatives undertaken by Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association truly reflect and uphold this vision.
Had the privilege of speaking on Valgus Knee, discussing evolving concepts, surgical decision-making, and practical approaches to achieving optimal alignment and long-term outcomes.
Was also grateful to join an esteemed panel moderated by Dr. S R Sundararajan, Dr. Raieev Raman, Dr. Palanivelrajan, Dr. K. P. SaravanaKumar and Dr. Tholkapiyan & Dr. Bhupesh Karthik
It was an engaging discussion on expanding our arthroscopic capabilities, newer techniques, and refining surgical precision for better patient outcomes.
Also gave a talk on ‘ACL Reconstruction – What’s In & What’s Out’ & ‘ACL Reconstruction in the skeletally immature’, where I shared insights on current trends in ACL reconstruction—what innovations are shaping the future and what practices are gradually evolving out of routine use
My special thanks to President Dr. Manikandan, Secretary Dr. Thirunarayanan, Dr. Tharmaraj, Dr. Muthuraman, Dr. Damodharan, Dr. Suresh Kumar, Dr. Sundarajan, and Dr. Bhupesh Karthik for organising such an excellent meeting and for graciously making me a part of it.
My sincere gratitude to all the Executive Committee Members, Office Bearers, the entire Organising Committee, and the Office Bearers of Nellai Ortho Club for their dedication and commitment.
