Hello everyone, the monsoon is at its peak and with the news of it getting worse in the northern part of the country and in metro cities, its high time to introspect and act accordingly. Although measures need to be taken by the municipal authorities and the government some actions from us as civilians could also help. Many organisations and NGO's are working with the civic bodies to create a robust system to overcome such situations, like saving the rivers, lakes and other water bodies, esp. Mula M***a river in the city, unblocking and maintaining the drainage and sewage system, water plants for purification etc. Hope their efforts are successful.
To ensure our safety and prevent ourselves from the climate change, few measures to be taken:
1. Dengue is prevalent in some areas and large number of people are affected with symptoms of fever and muscle pain. Wear full clothing during the office hours and daytime especially when the culprit mosquitoes are more active. Use of mosquito repellants, coils etc. is highly recommended during the day too.
2. If affected, do not panic in cases of old age and children even if the platelets drop, regular treatment with medicines, iv fluids and if needed platelet transfusion shall help in recovery of the patient.
3. Timely visit to the doctors with the onset of symptoms shall help and be more effective and further complications and severity of the condition be avoided.
4. Keep yourself hydrated with fluids, water, fruit juices and use of warm clothes, sweaters and jackets should be encouraged in everyone specially children, females and old age members of the family.
5. Bike accidents and fall cases are pretty common and in large numbers which can be avoided by simply driving safely and avoiding trekking to difficult places without any safety gear.
Stay Safe....Stay Healthy....
