The muscle built & maintained in 30s offers protection against metabolic diseases & physical decline later in life.

Beginning around age 30, adults lose approximately 3–8% of muscle mass per decade with accelerated loss after age 50.

Though it may seem gradual, it has serious consequences. Skeletal muscle makes up ~ 40% of our body weight.

It is the primary site of glucose uptake handling nearly 80% of glucose

Losing over 8% muscle mass raises diabetes risk by 2.4 times. Low muscle mass raises mortality risk 20–40% and heart disease risk by 37%

In men, muscle loss nearly doubles the risk of Metabolic syndrome & insulin resistance.

In contrast, 10% increase in muscle mass reduces insulin resistance by 11%

So it’s better to act now for better health in later years.

The vicious cycle of losing weight to only regain it is common. When it’s time to shed fat, the debate usually splits into “treadmill warriors” vs “weight lifters”.

A study of 304 adults on a ~500 kcal deficit compared resistance training (RT) & aerobic exercise.

Despite similar weight lost (~5–9 kg), RT drove the greatest fat loss (men ~8.9 kg; women ~6.36 kg) & increased muscle mass.

Another RCT revealed that 4–6 weeks of RT (5 d/week) improved insulin sensitivity by 48%.

Separate research shows 2X/week RT improved insulin sensitivity by 46.3% & reduced visceral fat.

Combined training increases adiponectin by 48%, an insulin-sensitizing hormone driving glucose metabolism.

RT boosts resting metabolism via increased fat-free mass, enabling greater calorie burn even at rest.

Better insulin sensitivity lowers insulin levels, helping the body burn fat instead of storing.

Cardio drives the deficit, while RT directs it. One clears the path; the other builds the foundation for sustained metabolic health!

Isn’t adulthood just us looking at old photos, missing that effortless hair and wondering when it stopped being that easy?

Though multiple factors drive hair loss, one of the most overlooked is protein deficiency.

Nearly 80% of each hair strand is composed of protein called keratin

Low protein intake impairs keratin formation, causing thin, fragile hair that breaks easily.

It disrupts the growth cycle, pushing more hair into premature shedding phase (telogen effluvium).

Even after fixing protein intake, recovery lags. Hair grows ~0.5 inch/month, so visible improvement takes 3–6 months.

The focus should be on consuming 1.8g/kg of protein from good sources i.e. whole foods like eggs or legumes.

No supplement, serum, or shampoo can compensate for nutritional deficiency.

For the longest time, I thought it was my thyroid.

Low energy. Mood swings.
No routine. No consistency.
Just trying… and feeling stuck.

Until one day, it scared me enough to change.
