Hello, thanks for being a part of this exciting past week, we see all your love in the comments and the interactions with our stories ♥️
Today, we're here with the final, seventh post for the week leading to the Mental Health Awareness Day,
We are going to talk about Emotions.
~~~
Humans are deeply complicated beings, capable of harbouring a plethora of emotions. Hope, Anger, Sadness, Joy, Love; some of the strongest emotions we feel are just the tip of the iceberg. The warm, pleasant feeling that washes over you, unparalleled to anything else. The whisper of hope that leads a defeated man to success. The stormy rage that pervades our senses blinding us completely. The sense of despair, loss complete and utter hurt that takes over both mind and body. And the feeling of belonging, being cherished despite your faults and flaws are some of our most basic emotions. We experience all of these and more but a life without them is void, empty, dull just plain old robotic. Your emotions are a part of you, they make you who you are. Without them you'd be nothing more than a tin can, hollow and empty.
An equal importance is placed on both positive and negative emotions. A life without sadness, anger, discontentment is not ideal. It leaves us weak, susceptible and complacent not learning to cherish the positive instances in life. A truly emotionally stable person can express the anger they feel rather than letting it burst forth in an unpleasant manner. They can feel sad and know that this sense of despair is just a part of life and it's not all that life has to offer. Our emotions are the greatest advocates of our humanity so let's never discourage others display of emotions.
The world, with time and technology, has become brighter and smaller but the recesses of our minds have turned darker and deeper. The society keeps demanding more & more while we keep shaving off pieces of ourselves to keep IT happy instead of ourselves.
Depression and anxiety is an inward spiral that sucks in all hope and life out one's very core till all that's left is a husk.
Even though their combined darkness seem all-consuming, a tiny flicker of hope could save a person's life.
If you notice your near and dear ones suffering, support and love them with all your might, implore them
Hey!
Today, we're here with the sixth post for the week leading to the Mental Health Awareness Day,
Today we're going to talk about Depression and Anxiety.
~~~
Depression often feels like a 20 ton stone tied to your heart, pulling you down and anxiety is that taut string keeping you on edge.
For a long time people with depression have been brushed aside as just sad or moody. They have been ignorantly advised to just "choose to be happy" or "forget about it because there are other more unfortunate." This has led to many accepting & living with unimaginable pain and even killing themselves because of it.
But psychology has gained considerable momentum in the scientific diaspora which has led to depression be rightfully categorised as a serious mental illness that accumulates negativity in one's aspects & life.
It affects one in every four teenagers and globally more than 300 million individuals of every age. It is set to overtake cancer as the most major cause of deaths in 2020.
Anxiety is the compulsive disorder that causes extreme and irrational nervousness, fear, apprehension and worrying. In its severe form, it can cause panic attacks that often feel like heart attacks.
Depression has taken the lives of many prominent figures in media such as Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain and Heath Ledger.
The stigma attached to depression has been considerably reduced by many celebrities coming forward with their own stories and battles with depression.
It often makes one feel unworthy & unwanted thus paving a thorny path for anxiety as well. It causes inability to enjoy activities you previously enjoyed, unwillingness to socialize, weight gain or loss, mood swings and a myriad of other negative behaviour that slowly hacks at your mental health...
