A 63-year-old male patient presented to the emergency department with a sudden onset of slurring of speech and weakness on the right side of the body. The patient had a known history of Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
An urgent MRI of the brain was performed, which revealed a hyperacute infarct in the left hemisphere, consistent with an acute ischemic stroke.
As the patient arrived within the golden hour, immediate thrombolytic therapy with Tenecteplase was administered. Following the treatment, the patient showed complete reversal of neurological deficits, with full recovery and no residual weakness or speech difficulty.
This case highlights the importance of early recognition and rapid treatment of stroke. If a patient reaches the hospital within the golden period (within 4.5 hours), stroke can often be completely reversed with timely thrombolysis.
