5th PG Orientation Program – January 2026 Session: The 5th Postgraduate Orientation Program for the January 2026 session was successfully conducted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rajkot from 9th –12th March 2026.
The program was inaugurated by Padmashree, Dr J S Titiyal, President, AIIMS Rajkot, in the presence of Dr L N Dorairajan, Executive Director, who introduced the newly joined PG residents to the vision, systems, and functioning of AIIMS Rajkot.
Dr Sanjay Gupta, Dean (Academics) welcomed the students and provided an overview of the academic framework.

Over four days, the orientation covered important aspects including:
📚 Academic and examination systems
🔬 Research rules, procedures, and Good Clinical Practices
🏥 Hospital workflow and clinical laboratory practices
💻 Hospital Information System (HIS) and library resources
⚖️ Medico-legal guidelines, documentation, and medical records
🏨 Hostel rules, safety, and campus facilities

The sessions were delivered by faculty members, administrators, and hospital leadership to help new PG residents smoothly integrate into academic and clinical training at AIIMS Rajkot.

In compliance with directives issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Cabinet Secretariat, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rajkot (AIIMS Rajkot) organised a meeting to adopt the “Seva Sankalp Resolution.”

On this occasion, the Executive Director, Dr. L. N. Dorairajan, addressed the gathering and brainstormed with all concerned stakeholders on implementing the spirit of “Nagrik Devo Bhav” through various citizen-centric approaches. The resolution was formally read out by the Deputy Director (Administration) and other senior officials.

AIIMS Rajkot reaffirmed its commitment to the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister for achieving the goal of “Viksit Bharat” by actively contributing towards nation-building initiatives.

On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebration of the 25th Inter Disciplinary Clinical Meet (IDCM) at AIIMS Rajkot 🎉
An enriching guest lecture was delivered by Dr. G. Gopal Rao, MD, FRCPath—
HoD Clinical Microbiology, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust & Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London- on Health Care Associated Infection and their Prevention.
Dr Sanjay Gupta, Dean (Academic) briefed about IDCM, Dean (Research) welcomed the guest speaker.
The session comprehensively covered antimicrobial resistance, judicious use of antibiotics, and key infection control practices.
Dr L N Dorairajan, Executive Director, AIIMS Rajkot presented a memento and concluded with a concise summary.
The programme was attended by more than 150 participants, including faculty members, residents, nursing officers, and interns.

A National Symposium on “Legal Issues in Medical Practice- Mandatory Awareness for The Medical Professional” was organized by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, AIIMS Rajkot on 24th January, 2026 through hybrid mode.

The objective of this Symposium was –

To enhance awareness of the legal and ethical responsibilities in medical practice.

To familiarize clinicians with the current laws, rules, and regulations governing healthcare.

To understand the importance of valid consent and proper documentation in medicolegal safety.

To update participants on PCPNDT Act compliance and its practical implications.

To recognize and prevent medical negligence through evidence-based and legally sound practices.

To empower medical professionals to practice with confidence, accountability, and legal preparedness.

Dr. L. N. Dorairajan, Executive Director, AIIMS, Rajkot inaugurated the CME and emphasized the importance & relevance of such program in clinical practice.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Pinky Sahoo (Co-Chairman), Medical superintendent and Head Obstetrics and Gynaecology AIIMS, Rajkot marking the beginning of the academic proceedings.

The event was formally commenced with the opening address by Dr. Sanjay Gupta (Co-Patron and Organizing Chairman) , Dean Academics, Prof and Head Forensic Medicine and Toxicology AIIMS, Rajkot , setting the tone for the symposium.

2 Informative sessions were contributed by Dr. Dhanya S. from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar on “Rules, Regulations, Act governing major aspects of Medical practices” and “Medical Negligence”. Dr. Sanjay Gupta took Session on “Consent”, Dr. Pinky Sahoo and Dr. Vijyeta Jagtap (Associate Professor, OBGYN) highlighted regarding the “PCPNDT Act Compliance” and Dr. Utsav Parekh (Associate Professor, FMT) on “Medicolegal Cases” followed by an engaging and enlightening panel discussion. The symposium was made available online as well, apart from active offline attendance and participation.

and to serve the nation in whichever capacity we can. The event was attended by all Faculty members, residents, students, Nursing Officers, Administrative Officers, and staff members who showed great enthusiasm. Executive Director Dr LN Dorairajan highlighted the milestones achieved by the institute and also thanked everyone for their commitment and dedication towards the institute and the nation.
