🌿 A Simple and Practical Ointment Base Preparation – For Doctors & Medical Students
As doctors, we prescribe medicines every day. But preparing a medicine with our own hands and giving it to a patient brings a special satisfaction. To encourage this spirit of innovation and self-preparation among doctors and students, I am sharing a very simple and effective method to prepare an ointment base.
This method is easy, practical, and can be followed by anyone.
🔥 Step-by-Step Easy Ointment Base Preparation (100% Practical Method)
👉 1. Choose the Right Oil
For skin complaints or foot cracks — Coconut oil
For pain-relieving or anti-inflammatory ointments — Sesame oil
👉 2. Take 100 g of the selected oil and heat it on medium flame.
👉 3. Add 20 g of beeswax and allow it to melt completely.
👉 4. Then add 20 g of “Kungiliyam” (resin) and continue heating until fully melted.
👉 5. Mix thoroughly. Dip a spoon into the mixture and drop a small sample on a plate.
Allow it to cool and check the consistency.
👉 6. If the consistency is perfect, the base is ready.
If you want it thicker, add an extra 5 g of beeswax each time and adjust as needed.
🌺 Special Note
Before starting, you can infuse the oil with any herbal decoction depending on the condition you want to treat.
This allows you to create your own clinical combinations and dispense them in ointment form.
Preparing medicines this way adds uniqueness to your practice and builds trust with patients.
✨ Why This Method Matters for Doctors & Students
Extremely simple and repeatable
Practical demonstration-friendly
Helps create customized formulations
Enhances patient confidence
Gives the satisfaction of making your own medicine
Encourages creativity and independent preparation
I am soon sharing this in a recorded video so that both doctors and students can clearly learn and practice it.
Let this be the beginning of a mindset:
“A medicine we prepare… carries the value of our knowledge and the touch of our hands.”
