I’m grateful for the ongoing opportunity to train at The Alfred Heart & Lung Transplant Program, one of the most advanced and respected cardiothoracic centers in Australia.

Each day brings new learning — from observing complex heart and lung transplant pathways to understanding the intricacies of ECMO, donor management, and multidisciplinary transplant decision-making. A major highlight has been witnessing their world-class Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) service, known for:
- Managing some of the most challenging PH cases in the region
- Comprehensive transplant-focused evaluation
- Seamless collaboration between PH specialists, transplant physicians, cardiologists, and intensivists
- Evidence-based escalation strategies and right-heart support pathways

Another inspiring area has been The Alfred’s Pediatric Lung Transplant Care, led under the expertise of Dr. Miranda. Observing the thoughtful, compassionate, and highly specialized approach to pediatric lung disease and transplant preparation has been truly eye-opening.
