The Art of posing
As a competitive bodybuilder, posing to me is as much part of the sport as training, diet and sleep. But what about the regular gym rat, who most likely will never step on stage? I am convinced that posing can help anyone anyone during their quest for a better physique, which is why I have all my clients do it on their off days.
So what are the benefits of posing if you do not plan to step on stage in a tiny piece of underwear? I believe there are several ways in which posing will help you to achieve your dream body. Here are my thoughts:
Posing Improves Muscle Awareness
Posing can dramatically improve muscle awareness, especially in hard to develop areas such as hamstrings or parts of your back. Very often athletes have lagging muscle groups, simply because they do not contract them properly during the workout. Posing betters the mind muscle connection which then leads to better workouts overall.
posing can literally be the difference between winning a show and coming 2nd (or even 3rd)! What and how you present yourself can make you look a whole lot better or a whole lot worse. You must remember that virtually every type of physique show will be judged on your balance and symmetry. You cannot help but be attracted to a well balanced and aesthetically pleasing physique and this is where posing is vital.
So there you go, a few tips to help you become a better physique competitor. Need I mention to take pictures and video yourself throughout your journey and posing practice sessions. If you’re competing this season then get to it. Don’t let all your hard work dieting for months, dropping body fat be wasted because you ‘couldn’t be bothered to practice’ or you ‘already know what you’re going to do when you get on stage’ because trust me you won’t and when those stage lights hit you, you will be for a shock. Enough reading about posing, now get to it.
