The annual Seng K*t Snem Festival is celebrated to commemorate the Seng Khasi Movement to preserve, protect and uphold indigenous Khasi Religion, Culture and way of life. This Year the festivities mark the 121st anniversary of Seng Khasi Movement which began in 1899.
History: November 23 1899,exactly 121 years ago an organization(seng) was formed in Shillong called The Khasi Young Men's Association which was renamed Seng Khasi in 1901.It consisted of 16 young men whose aim was to preserve the essence of Khasi culture and way of life .The President was Rangbah Rash Mohon Roy and the Secretary was Rangbah Chandranath Roy Sawian. The rooster is the symbol of Seng Khasi because the rooster is the messenger of light. When the rooster crows darkness is dispelled and light breaks through. So the Khasis believe that the purpose of life is to keep evolving until we get enlightened to the Divinity within us and beyond so we may live a life of purity and godliness.Niam Khasi -the indigenous Khasi religion teaches of one God,U Blei,Omnipotent ,Omniscient,Omni present ,imageless and formless .There are no formal prayers except in special occasions.Every piece of the earth is prayer-worthy,every house is a temple and every good word, thought and deed of the day is worship and an offering unmatched by any other .So as Seng K*t Snem is celebrated on November 23 in Shillong and all over the Khasi Hills let us ponder on the main precept of the faith- Truth is the Ultimate -Ka Hok kaba tam .It is not easy but the endeavour is the beginning ....

‘Shad Nongkrem’ or Nongkrem Dance Festival is celebrated annually by indigenous Khasi Tribe of Meghalaya. This indigenous dance festival is celebrated in order to honor the powerful Goddess Ka Blei Synshar for blessing the people of the community with good harvest and prosperity. An important element of the festival is that unmarried women get dressed in their traditional dresses with heavy gold ornaments and perform a dance in a specially arranged festival field.
Our heartiest wishes to the citizens of Meghalaya on the auspicious occasion of Nongkrem Dance Festival.

🌿✨ Swachhata Hi Seva | Swachhotsava | Gandhi Jayanti I Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti ✨🌿

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s and Lal Bahadur Shastri's birth anniversary (2nd October), nearly 150 members of Dorbar Shnong Mawtnum, Ri Bhoi District, in collaboration with Saindur Enviro, Shillong, EKH District, Meghalaya, came together for a village-wide cleaning drive. 🧹💪

The event celebrated Swachhata Hi Seva and Swachhotsava, reflecting Gandhiji’s vision of a clean and healthy society. From children to elders, the participation was inspiring! 🙌

🎤 Dr. Vivek Kumar, Director of Saindur Enviro, applauded the community’s efforts and reminded everyone about the dangers of single-use plastics, which pollute the environment, choke rivers, and remain in soil for thousands of years. He highlighted the MoEFCC ban on single-use plastics and encouraged villagers to adopt eco-friendly compostable alternatives. 🌍♻️

Together, we pledged to continue Gandhiji’s mission —
👉 Keeping our village clean
👉 Reducing plastic waste
👉 Protecting our environment 🌱

💚 A big thank you to the Headman Shri B H Nongmalieh, Secretary, Shri K. Nongmalieh, Executive Committee member, Shri R R Makdoh, and every villager who joined hands to make this initiative a success.
