Some of the questions bothering me in the backdrop of Covid 19:
1. Is corona the first and last virus to be identified?
2. Have we not seen viral infections before?
3. Was so much panic created in the society when we had chicken pox, measles, dengue, chikungunya etc.. which are all caused by viruses? The answer is no.. then why so much panic for this Corona??
4. Is Corona the only infection which is spread by droplet infection?? ( that is by sneezing, coughing etc)
5. Do all Corona positive patients end up in ventilator??
6. Why unnecessary negligence for all other serious patients to treat (treat???) asymptomatic covid-19 patients?
7. Hospitals have reserved beds for covid-19 patients. Even if the covid-19 patient is having relatively mild symptoms, he/ she should be compulsorily admitted and treated... But if some other patient with serious illness badly requires hospitalization, he/ she can be denied admission due to non availability of beds and let to die.. is this how health care system should function??
8. Has the lockdown been really effective ? Any logic behind this half lockdown? Does the Corona has a specific time to spread?? For example few cities allow the shops to be open till afternoon, post noon the shops are compulsorily made to shut down... So should we assume that Corona spreads only post noon and during mornings it will not spread?
9. People are made to believe that till vaccine for Corona is found, this kind of life is inevitable. Ok, let's assume that we found a vaccine for Corona. What if a new virus emerges... then should all this panic be created again?? Is this approach really a scientific approach??
10. Can't we have other approaches of managing these viral infections??
11. The strength of health care system is not in creating more and more critical care facilities like ventilators etc but in preventing people from ending up in ventilators. Is it not?? (I don't mean to tell that ventilators are not important)
The native medicine of India, AYURVEDA has this potential.. then why not utilize the innate scientific concepts of ayurveda in managing the viral infections like Corona..??
12. The guidelines in ayurveda for treating any viral or other infections is not based on destroying the infecting microbes by using some anti microbe drug, but on facilitating a strong host response by creating a favourable internal environment in the body which will facilitate the components of the immune system to do their job that is to fight against the invading pathogens. This is achieved by a combination of suitable dietary modifications and Personalized medications based on individual patient health condition. Does this not seem to be a more logical and scientific approach to manage an infection??
