26th January, Republic Day at WeRise Centre

This Republic Day, the male wing of WeRise Centre chose movement, mindfulness, and meaning.
We set out on a nature hike towards Rongtong View Point, letting the long walk, fresh air, and quiet conversations do their work. The journey itself became a reminder that healing doesn’t always happen in rooms; sometimes it happens on winding trails.

Along the way, we paused to enjoy the scenery, shared snacks after the climb, and spent time at Hawa Ghar, embracing the calm of being present together. What made the day truly special was how it ended; with a simple act of free social service, cleaning the area we visited, respecting the land that hosted us.

Recovery is about rebuilding discipline, responsibility, and connection: to self, to others, and to the world around us.
This day was not just a hike, but a step forward in becoming more grounded, more aware, and more accountable citizens.

In nature. In service. In recovery together.

As we come to the close of the year, the WeRise Foundation community chose to end it with purpose, positivity, and action. Today’s act of social service was more than a clean-up drive, it was a living reminder that recovery is not meant to be enjoyed in isolation, but strengthened through service to others.
In recovery, stability grows, faith deepens, and spiritual awakening begins to take root. But recovery does not stop at personal healing. It calls us outward: towards responsibility, contribution, and connection with society. Service is not limited to positions or titles; it exists in our work, in our homes, in our communities, and in every opportunity where we choose to give rather than withdraw.
Through this initiative, our community reinforced reintegrative behaviours, restoring dignity, rebuilding accountability, and rediscovering self-worth by contributing meaningfully to the world around us. Each small act of service strengthens not only the environment we live in, but also the individual journey of recovery.
The message we carry goes beyond recovery spaces. It reflects in how we show up, how we care, and how we give back.
Together, we rise, for ourselves and for society.

WeRise Foundation conducted an awareness session on “Addiction Unmasked: Real Stories, Real Science, Real Awareness” on 2nd December at Darjeeling Polytechnic Institute, engaging with 80+ students and faculty members.

The session was led by Mr. Dhiraj Pradhan and Ms. Sumith Pradhan, who explored the emotional and behavioural dimensions of addiction in a way that deeply resonated with the students. By highlighting how addiction can develop through everyday human experiences, the discussion helped participants understand its real-life impact with greater clarity and empathy.

We are grateful to Darjeeling Polytechnic Institute for their warm welcome and commitment to meaningful conversations around awareness and well-being.

Drug Addiction Awareness Program - Ghoom Boys School, Darjeeling

On 16th November 2025, a comprehensive Drug Addiction Awareness Program was successfully conducted at Ghoom Boys School, Darjeeling. The event was organised by Darjeeling Police on behalf of CADF (Citizens Against Drug Forum), of which We Rise is an active member.

The program saw an enthusiastic participation of around 200 attendees, including students from various schools in and around Darjeeling, members of the Ghoom Samaj, teachers, local clubs, and community representatives.

Mr. Dhiraj attended the program and also addressed the gathering as one of the key speakers. He spoke mainly about how addiction starts, how it progresses, and the consequences it brings to an individual’s life. He further highlighted the crucial role of families and society in prevention, early treatment, and supporting recovery.

A heartfelt appreciation to all participants and organisers for contributing to a meaningful and impactful session for the youth and the community.
