Thirst and fatigue vanish until the patient is safe, while the steady beeping of the anaesthetic machine marks the rhythm of the battle. Floor sisters step in with sutures or help reposition the patient, and moments of intense focus give way to fleeting relief—only until the next challenge arrives. Here, every act is final, every move deliberate, because in this theatre, the curtain never falls until life is secured.

But medicine, like life, is also about resilience. The next morning, you walk into that ward or OT again—heart scarred but spirit intact. You begin again. Because some patients do more than test your skill—they teach you. Their strength in pain, their smile in suffering, etch themselves into your memory forever. They are the quiet reminders of why you chose this path.
