1/7 The first of our seven day series of short stories as told by Sri Sri's sister Bhanu Narasimhan for Sri Sri week

“When we were small we used to play and I used to collect stamps. My friends would say give me a new stamp and I will give you another stamp back in exchange. I would not have any, because my friends used to have cousins from other countries, I never had anybody from other countries like that, so Sri Sri would tell me ‘don’t worry I will get you many stamps when I go abroad,’ so I asked him ‘how will you go’ and he said ‘many people are there for me waiting there, I will definitely bring you stamps,’

“And if I remember the first time he went and when he came back he brought me one whole box of stamps and every time he would send me letters he would put extra stamps in it and send it, you know how much he remembered that.”

“When Sri Sri took me to other countries the first person I met they told me 'you know that we are waiting for him for so long', and this was in five countries that I visited that year, first year when I went with him, and all the countries they told me the same thing, one or two people would come directly to me and say that we have been waiting for him for so long.”

“He had his touch of naughtiness and humour also. Once, after coming back from school, we emptied pitaji’s (our father’s) suitcase of all his files and filled it with our toys! He was supposed to go for an important meeting and he took all our toys with him there! When he opened the briefcase, it was certainly a surprise for all present. However, our father only complimented our sense of humour and encouraged us. Our parents gave us such a beautiful environment to grow up.”

We would also always tease one of our aunts, she would come home and on April fools day we would say ‘come come have lemon juice’ and we would force her and then there would only be salt in it, salt water. We were mischievous like that, Sri Sri would wait for them to react, just the first sip and then would say ‘no no don’t drink it ‘and then take it away.”
