The Art of Living Foundation is a multi-faceted, not-for-profit educational and humanitarian NGO with a presence in over 151 countries. Founded in 1982 by His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the Art of Living, today, is one of the largest voluntary organisations in the world. Inspired by its founder’s vision of making the world a violence-free, stress-free global family, the organisation is engaged in various initiatives that uplift humanity and enhance the quality of life. The goal of the organisation is to bring peace at the level of the individual, society, nation and the world as a whole. Its areas of work covers conflict resolution, disaster and trauma relief, poverty alleviation, empowerment of women, prisoner rehabilitation, education for all, campaigns against female foeticide and child labour and environment sustainability. Guided by Sri Sri’s philosophy of peace, “Unless we have a stress-free mind and a violence-free society, we cannot achieve world peace,” the Art of Living offers several stress-elimination and self-development programmes based mainly on breathing techniques, meditation and yoga. These programmes have helped thousands around the world to overcome depression and violent and suicidal tendencies. The Art of Living has several sister organisations which are dedicated to realising its vision. International Association for Human Values, Ved Vignan Maha Vidya Peeth, Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Vyakti Vikas Kendra India, among others, formulate and implement social projects of the Art of Living. Professional Affiliations
The Art of Living works in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations participating in a variety of committees and activities relating to health, education, sustainable development and conflict resolution. It also carries our several joint initiatives with UN organizations such as United Nations Millennium Campaign (UNMC), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), etc. Memberships

Breath Awareness Activity

This simple practice helps you connect with your breath for relaxation and stress relief.

🌟 Steps to Do:
Sit crossed leg or comfortably in your chair with your feet firmly on the ground.
Place one hand on your abdomen and the other hand on your chest.
Close your eyes and begin taking slow, deep breaths through your nose.
Inhale, filling your belly first, allowing the hand on your tummy to rise, and expanding your chest.
Exhale slowly, feeling your chest soften first, and the abdomen sank inward.
and
Repeat this for 5-7 minutes.

Optional: Practice Ujjayi Breath by gently constricting the back of your throat to create a soft oceanic sound while breathing.

Promotes a deeper awareness of your breath, releasing tension from shallow breathing.

Body Awareness Activity
This simple activity lets you connect with your body before meals.
🌟 Steps to Do:
Sit comfortably with your back straight, in crossed leg position or simply on a chair with feet grounded.
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
Gradually bring your attention to different parts of your body, starting from the toes and moving upward (toes, feet, knees, hips, belly, chest, shoulders, neck, head).
As you focus on each part, relax it and release any tension.
After scanning the body, return your attention to your breath and take a few deep breaths before opening your eyes.

💡 Benefits:
Reduces by promoting .
Increases awareness of physical sensations, leading to better .
It enhances digestion when practised before meals by calming the mind.

"एक बात का स्मरण रहे :जब भी आपको लगे कि कोई चीज गलत है तो पहले उसका कारण अपने भीतर खोजो, और कहीं मत जाओ।
सौ में से निन्यानवे मौके पर आपको अपने भीतर ही कारण मिल जाएगा। जब सौ में से निन्यानवे कारण आपके भीतर होंगे तो सौवां कारण अपने आप ही विदा हो जाएगा। आपको जो कुछ भी होता है उसका कारण आप स्वयं हो। आप कारण हो ; संसार तो बस दर्पण है।
खुद की खुदाई में ही खुदा निकलेगा। मन में कुछ 'भरकर' जीयेंगे तो मन भरकर जी नहीं पायेंगे। संसार में अगर कोई सबसे बड़ी जीत होगी तो... वह है अपने मन को जीतना...।
