She thought it was just “dry skin”… but it turned out to be steroid misuse.
What followed? Redness, paper-thin skin, visible blood vessels, and long-term sensitivity that will take time and patience to heal.
Topical steroids are NOT moisturizers.
Using them without prescription or overusing them can silently damage your skin barrier.
Common side effects of steroid misuse:
• Skin thinning (atrophy)
• Persistent redness & irritation
• Visible capillaries (telangiectasia)
• Acne-like eruptions
• Increased sensitivity & rebound flare-ups
• Pigmentation changes
Healing is possible, but it’s a slow journey—not a quick fix.
And in between all this, there was a sweet moment 🌼
Since my patient works in agriculture, I asked her for a yellow rose plant… because my love for plants is never-ending 💛
Your skin deserves science, not shortcuts.
