*Pulwama Police Apprehend Drug Peddler; Contraband Substances Recovered, FIR Registered*

Feb 11`````In its continued drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Pulwama Police apprehended one individual and recovered contraband substances from his possession. A police party of Police Station Rajpora, during routine patrolling duty at Hanjan Balla, apprehended one Javid Ahmad Dar, S/o Gh. Mohd Dar, R/o Rajpora, and recovered contraband substances from his possession including Petril (03½ strips), Anxit (01 strip), Tramadol (24½ strips), Pregabalin (06½ strips) and Rexcof (04 bottles).

In this regard, a case FIR No. 10/2026 under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rajpora and investigation has been taken up.

Pulwama Police remains committed to taking strict action against individuals involved in drug peddling and appeals to the public to cooperate in eradicating the menace of drugs from society.

J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN SOLVE THEFT CASE WITHIN HOURS; STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED; ACCUSED ARRESTED

Shopian, February 09: Demonstrating its commitment to swift investigation and decisive action against crime, Shopian Police have solved a theft case within hours of its registration, leading to the arrest of an accused person and recovery of stolen property.
On 08.02.2026, Police Station Shopian received a written complaint from Mohd Altaf Wani S/o Ghulam Hassan Wani R/o Dashipora, Shopian, proprietor of a mobile shop namely M/S “Mobile World”, located at Hospital Road, Shopian. The complainant reported that during the intervening night of 07/08.02.2026, unknown miscreants broke into his shop and decamped with mobile phones and other mobile accessories.
Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, FIR No. 08/2026 under relevant provisions of law was registered, and investigation was taken up without delay. Leveraging technical inputs and sustained investigative efforts, the police team successfully traced and apprehended one accused identified as Umar Akbar Malik R/o Khasipora, Shopian.
During investigation, on his disclosure, 05 mobile phones, 01 tablet, 01 Apple Watch, and other mobile accessories were recovered.
It has also come to the fore during investigation that one associate of the accused, who is a juvenile, was also involved in the commission of the offence. In view of legal provisions, the identity of the juvenile has been withheld, and necessary action has been initiated as per the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway to ascertain any additional involvement.

Shopian Police remain committed to maintaining law and order and assure the public of firm and impartial action against all those involved in criminal activities.

*Srinagar Police Arrests Three Notorious Drug Peddlers; He**in Recovered From Their Possession*

Srinagar, February 5, 2026 :

Srinagar Police have arrested three notorious drug peddlers belonging to the same family in the jurisdiction of Police Station Khanyar.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
1.Gulzar Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rehman Mir
2.Muskan Gulzar Mir, daughter of Gulzar Ahmad Mir
3.Ubaid Gulzar, son of Gulzar Ahmad Mir

All the accused are residents of Baghi Roop Singh, Miskeen Bagh, Khanyar.

Acting on specific information, a Police team of Police Station Khanyar intercepted a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK01 AW 8898.
During search, substantial quantity of he**in, a banned narcotic substance worth lakhs of Rupees, was recovered from their possession.
The vehicle used in the commission of the offence has also been seized.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused were actively involved in supplying narcotic drugs in Srinagar and had generated substantial illegal proceeds through drug trafficking.
The seized vehicle was reportedly purchased from the proceeds of this illicit trade.

Accordingly, FIR No. 08/2026 under Sections 8/21–29 of the NDPS ( Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances ) Act has been registered at Police Station Khanyar.

Further investigation is underway to trace both forward and backward linkages of the drug network. A comprehensive financial investigation is ongoing to identify and attach properties acquired through the illegal proceeds of crime.

Srinagar Police reiterate their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urge the public to cooperate by sharing information related to narcotics.

Budgam, February 5, 2026:

Budgam Police have successfully solved a major theft case by arresting five accused persons and recovering a substantial portion of the stolen property.

Police Station Budgam received a written complaint from Mohammad Yousuf Najar S/o Ali Mohammad Najar, R/o Lakhripora, Budgam, stating that during the intervening night of 16/17 January 2026, unknown miscreants forcibly entered his residence and decamped with gold ornaments and cash.

Accordingly, FIR No. 12/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Budgam, and investigation was taken up promptly.

During the course of investigation, a police team led by the SHO, Police Station Budgam, utilizing human intelligence and CCTV footage analysis from multiple locations, identified and arrested five persons involved in the crime.

The arrested accused are Umar Farooq Dar S/o Farooq Ahmad Dar, R/o Wasikhunrakhi Asham, Sumbal, Imtiyaz Ahmad Guroo S/o Gulzar Ahmad Guroo, R/o Parimpora, Srinagar, Basit Bashir S/o Bashir Ahmad Khan, R/o Pehlipora, Safapora, Ganderbal, Bilal Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Gani Dar, R/o Safapora, Lar, Ganderbal and Bilal Ahmad Guroo S/o Abdul Rashid Guroo, R/o Wangipora, Sumbal.

All accused are presently in police custody. Stolen property, including gold ornaments worth approximately ₹11 lakh and cash amounting to ₹83 Thousand, has been recovered besides two vehicles used in the commission of crime were also seized. Investigation has also revealed the involvement of three goldsmiths in the disposal of stolen property, who have been identified and booked under relevant provisions of law.

Further investigation is in progress.

Meeting of National Conference held at Konibal chaired by Block President Showkat Ahmad Shah

A meeting of National Conference workers was held at Konibal, Pampore, under the chairmanship of Block President Showkat Ahmad Shah. The meeting was attended by Block Secretary Javid Ahmad Wani and the Halqa Presidents of Konibal, Chatlam and Meej, besides senior party workers and local representatives.
The meeting reviewed key political, social and developmental issues faced by the people of the area. Workers placed several public demands before the leadership, stressing the need for better basic facilities and stronger local infrastructure.
One of the main demands was the establishment of a water supply scheme for Konibal village to end the shortage of drinking water. Participants also demanded the opening of a branch of J and K Bank in Konibal so that farmers, traders and residents get easy access to banking services.
The meeting also called for the construction of a passenger shed at the DMPS bus stop in Konibal to protect commuters during rain and cold weather. A demand was raised for the development of a public park at Chatlam so that children and senior citizens get a proper recreational space.
Serious concern was expressed over a high tension electric line passing through a residential area near the house of Abdul Salam Dar. The workers demanded its immediate relocation to prevent any risk to human life.
The workers further urged the government to establish a fruit mandi at Pampore to support local fruit growers and improve marketing of their produce. It was also decided that the second phase of the playground at Konibal will be taken up to strengthen sports facilities for local youth.
The meeting also appreciated the role of the MLA Pampore for consistently raising public issues and ensuring that Pampore remains on the development agenda. Workers praised the MLA for securing funds for roads, drinking water schemes and public utilities across the constituency. The MLA’s efforts in improving education, healthcare and sports infrastructure were also acknowledged. The workers noted that close coordination between the MLA and government departments has helped in speeding up development works and reducing delays.
Addressing the gathering, Block President Showkat Ahmad Shah assured that all genuine public issues raised in the meeting will be taken up with the concerned authorities for early resolution. Block Secretary Javid Ahmad Wani stressed the need for regular follow up so that these demands turn into visible development on the ground.
Speakers at the meeting underlined the need for unity and collective effort to ensure the overall development of Konibal, Chatlam, Meej and the entire Pampore area. They reaffirmed their commitment to work in close coordination with the MLA Pampore and the party leadership for the welfare and progress of the people.
