Kulgam Police Cracks Down on Violating Medical Shops; 02 Sealed for NRX Drug Norm Violations, Others Booked for CCTV Non-Compliance
Kulgam, 08 April 2026:
In a firm action against violations of drug control regulations, Kulgam Police conducted inspections in the Devsar area. During the drive, 02 medical shops were found indulging in serious violations of norms governing the maintenance of scheduled/NRX drugs, thereby facilitating potential misuse and diversion.
The inspections were carried out by Police teams led by PS Devsar along with the Drug Controller. Acting promptly, both establishments were seized and sealed forthwith, pending further legal action.
Details are as under:
• Irfan Medical Store, Regn. No. JKPC/32C/8416 (Dated: 09.07.2021, valid up to 08.07.2026), was seized for gross violation of Section 18 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act due to non-maintenance of mandatory records of NRX drugs.
• Alshafa Medical Store was seized for violation of Section 22(d) read with Section 18 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act on account of non-maintenance of mandatory records of NRX drugs.
In addition, 02 other medical shops were temporarily seized for blatant non-compliance with CCTV installation norms, raising serious concerns regarding monitoring and accountability.
Further action, as warranted under law, is being initiated.
SSP Kulgam Shri Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS) stated that Kulgam Police maintains a zero-tolerance policy against violations in the handling of scheduled/NRX drugs and warned that strict legal action will be taken against any non-compliance. He advised all medical shop owners to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, maintain proper records of medicines, and ensure installation of CCTV systems, failing which stringent action shall follow.
Kulgam Police reiterates its commitment to ensuring strict enforcement of laws regulating the sale and distribution of medicines and urges all stakeholders to comply with prescribed norms to prevent misuse of pharmaceutical substances.
