*Awantipora Police Apprehend Two Drug Peddlers; Heroin-like Substance Seized*

Awantipora 10 April 2026:

During a naka checking conducted at Padgampora near Railway Station Awantipora, a police team headed by SHO PS Awantipora Inspector Ajaz Hmad apprehended two drug peddlers.

The accused have been identified as:
1) Faizan Yousuf Ganie S/o Mohd Yousuf Ganie, resident of Koil, Pulwama
2) Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi S/o Bashir Ahmad Sofi, resident of Washbugh, Pulwama

During the search, approximately 29 grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 84/2026 under sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and further investigation is underway.

Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and urged the general public to cooperate in this fight.

Kulgam Police Cracks Down on Violating Medical Shops; 02 Sealed for NRX Drug Norm Violations, Others Booked for CCTV Non-Compliance

Kulgam, 08 April 2026:

In a firm action against violations of drug control regulations, Kulgam Police conducted inspections in the Devsar area. During the drive, 02 medical shops were found indulging in serious violations of norms governing the maintenance of scheduled/NRX drugs, thereby facilitating potential misuse and diversion.

The inspections were carried out by Police teams led by PS Devsar along with the Drug Controller. Acting promptly, both establishments were seized and sealed forthwith, pending further legal action.

Details are as under:

• Irfan Medical Store, Regn. No. JKPC/32C/8416 (Dated: 09.07.2021, valid up to 08.07.2026), was seized for gross violation of Section 18 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act due to non-maintenance of mandatory records of NRX drugs.

• Alshafa Medical Store was seized for violation of Section 22(d) read with Section 18 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act on account of non-maintenance of mandatory records of NRX drugs.

In addition, 02 other medical shops were temporarily seized for blatant non-compliance with CCTV installation norms, raising serious concerns regarding monitoring and accountability.

Further action, as warranted under law, is being initiated.

SSP Kulgam Shri Anayat Ali Choudhary (IPS) stated that Kulgam Police maintains a zero-tolerance policy against violations in the handling of scheduled/NRX drugs and warned that strict legal action will be taken against any non-compliance. He advised all medical shop owners to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, maintain proper records of medicines, and ensure installation of CCTV systems, failing which stringent action shall follow.

Kulgam Police reiterates its commitment to ensuring strict enforcement of laws regulating the sale and distribution of medicines and urges all stakeholders to comply with prescribed norms to prevent misuse of pharmaceutical substances.

*PULWAMA POLICE NAB DRUG PEDDLER; CONTRABAND SUBSTANCE RECOVERED*

April 05``````Acting tough against the menace of drug trafficking, Pulwama Police apprehended a drug peddler during routine naka checking at Circular Road near Gangoo Crossing. A naka party of Police Station Pulwama intercepted a suspicious individual for checking. During his personal search, charas Chora-like substance weighing approximately 392 grams, concealed in a polythene bag, was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Vikas Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Yousuf Lone, a resident of Puchal.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 48/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Pulwama. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.

Pulwama Police reiterates its firm resolve to curb drug trafficking and appeals to the public to extend cooperation by providing any information regarding such illegal activities.

Ex MLA Pampore Zahoor Ahmad Mir Criticises NC MLA Hasnain Masoodi at PDP Workers’ Convention in Pampore

Pampore: Former MLA Pampore and senior leader of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Zahoor Ahmad Mir, on Friday criticised National Conference (NC) MLA Pampore, Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi, alleging that he has failed to effectively raise important public issues concerning the Pampore constituency.

Addressing a PDP workers’ meeting held at Meej, Pampore, Mir said that instead of highlighting pressing developmental concerns and public grievances faced by the people, the NC legislator has been supporting policies related to alcohol, which, according to him, are against the social values and religious sentiments of the local population. He added that such positions do not align with the cultural and Islamic ethos of society.

The meeting was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as part of its efforts to review party functioning and strengthen its grassroots presence in the area. The convention witnessed participation from a large number of party workers and local residents.

During his address, Zahoor Ahmad Mir interacted with party cadres and invited them to participate in a district-level workers’ convention scheduled to be held on April 12, 2026, at Chandgam in Pulwama district.

The programme concluded with a call for unity among party workers and a renewed commitment to work collectively for the welfare and development of the people.

*Awantipora Police Solves Theft Case; Two Accused Arrested, Stolen Property Recovered*

Awantipora 03 April 2026:

Police Station Awantipora successfully solved a theft case reported in the jurisdiction and arrested two accused persons involved in the commission of the crime.

On 02 April 2026, one Nazir Ahmad Bhat S/O Gh. Mohd R/O Noorpora lodged a written complaint stating that during the intervening night of 01/02 April 2026, unknown burglars broke into a temporary shed located in his apple orchard at Watsser and stole two motors.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 78/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, a team of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO PS Awantipora Inspector Ajaz Hmad, using modern techniques including CCTV analysis and other technical means, apprehended two accused persons identified as:

Maqsood Ahmad Lone S/O Farooq Ahmad Lone R/O Check Noorpora

Shabir Ahmad Wani S/O Ab Rahim Wani R/O Check Noorpora.

On their disclosure, the stolen motors were recovered from their possession.

Both accused have been apprehended and further investigation is underway.

Awantipora Police remains committed to ensuring safety and security of the public and urges citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

Lok Jan Shakti Party Holds Meeting at Satapokhran Khrew, Discusses Panchayat Elections

The Lok Jan Shakti Party organised a meeting at Satapokhran Khrew to listen to public grievances and deliberate on preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections.

The meeting was attended by District President Muzafer Naik, Youth President Sameer Ahmad Sheikh, Kashmir Province Vice President Arsheed Ahmad, General Secretary Bilal Ahmad, Youth Secretaries Yaseen Ahmad and Ishaq Ahmad, and Secretary Muzafer Ahmad Sheikh, along with party workers and local residents.

Driver Di , Two Others Inju in School Van Accident at Lal Chowk, Students safe

A driver lo his life while two others were inju in a road accident of school van near Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Thursday.

Fortunately students escaped unh in the accident.

Reports said that the driver identified as Javeed Ahmad, 47, a resident of Umair Abad, Bemina, was injur critic and was immediately shifted to SMHS Hospital.

Javeed Ahmad was driving a school van when he lost control opposite SSI Bank Lal Chowk, resulting in multiple grievous injuries. Despite efforts, he succ # to his injuri at the hos ,reports said.

Two other persons also sustained minor inju # in the incident and are undergoing treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.

Cognizance has been taken and further investigation initiated.
