CGWC Reaches Kaman Post to Deliver Mental Health Care | Isham, Uri

Our team from Child Guidance and Well-being Centre (CGWC) – IMHANS Kashmir, with support from UNICEF India, conducted a Medical & Mental Health Outreach Camp at Isham, Uri-a remote border-side village near Kaman Post, where access to healthcare is limited but hope remains strong.

More than 400 individuals including men, women, elderly, and children received:
• Free medical & psychiatric consultations
• Counseling and psychological first aid
• IEC materials on mental health, wellbeing & resilience
• Distribution of medicines & hygiene kits

The program was facilitated by Police Station Uri, and we are truly indebted to SHO Uri, Mr. Mudasir Ahmad, for his invaluable support and coordination in making this outreach a success.

Taking mental health services to the last mile, where care often ends but compassion continues.

Extending Specialized Care Beyond Clinic Walls - Trehgam, Kupwara 🧠

The Child Guidance and Wellbeing Centre (CGWC), with support from UNICEF India, organized a Medical Camp and Mental Health Outreach Program at Trehgam, Kupwara, reaching over 350 individuals including men, women, children, and the elderly.

Participants received a range of services, including medical consultations, psychiatric care, psychological counselling, and distribution of medicines and hygiene kits.

Through such outreach initiatives, CGWC continues its mission to bridge gaps in healthcare access and promote mental wellbeing across Kashmir.

100 Kilometres for Mental Health | Kralpora, Kupwara

Today, our team from Child Guidance and Well-being Centre (CGWC) - IMHANS Kashmir, with support from UNICEF India, travelled nearly 100 kilometres to conduct a Medical & Mental Health Outreach Camp at Kralpora, Kupwara.

In this remote corner of North Kashmir, where access to healthcare remains limited, we reached over 400 individuals-men, women, elderly, and children - providing:

• Free psychiatric consultations & psychological counseling
• Distribution of essential medicines & hygiene kits
• IEC materials on mental health

Because distance should never define who gets care.

Mental Health Cum Medical Camp at Kupwara

The Child Guidance and Wellbeing Centre (CGWC), IMHANS Kashmir conducted a Mental Health cm Medical Camp at Kupwara, reaching children, adolescents, and community members with essential mental health and medical services.

A multidisciplinary team provided on-spot consultations, counselling, and awareness sessions on physical health, mental health and psychosocial issues.

This initiative is part of CGWC’s ongoing community outreach programme supported by UNICEF, aimed at strengthening mental health and psychosocial support at the grassroots level across Jammu & Kashmir.

Wellbeing for Every Home | Kupwara Camp

Our team from Child Guidance and Well-being Centre (CGWC) – IMHANS Kashmir, with support from UNICEF India, organized a Medical & Mental Health Outreach Camp in Kupwara, reaching individuals and families who often have limited access to care.

Through this initiative, the team provided:

We are deeply saddened by the sad demise of Mr. Showkat Ahmed Shah, an esteemed employee of the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences- Kashmir

Mr. Shah had been closely associated with the Child Guidance and Wellbeing Center-IMHANS, Kashmir and remained dedicated to his work with compassion and sincerity.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May the Almighty grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Bringing Mental Health to Classrooms | Kupwara Schools

In September, after successfully conducting community-based medical & mental health camps, our team from CGWC–IMHANS Kashmir, with support from UNICEF India, reached out to 7 schools across Kupwara district to continue our mission of making mental health a priority for students.

Through these programs, we engaged with hundreds of adolescents on:

• Mental health awareness
• Coping with academic stress
• Building resilience and life skills
• Individual sessions for personalized guidance

These initiatives are possible only through the collaboration of DSEK and CEO Kupwara, whose support has been invaluable in taking mental health conversations to classrooms.

Together, we are building a future where every child has the tools to learn, grow, and thrive - not just academically, but emotionally too.

Nurturing Adolescent Wellbeing | MPML Higher Secondary School, Srinagar

Our team conducted a School Mental Health Outreach Program at MPML Higher Secondary School, Srinagar with the support of UNICEF India.

From understanding mental health to addressing academic stress and adolescent challenges, the sessions encouraged students to speak openly- breaking silence and building resilience. Alongside group discussions, many students also received individual counseling, ensuring personal struggles were heard with care and compassion.

Together with teachers and students, we are working toward a future where mental health is seen as strength, not stigma.
