Strong leaders build healthy teams. Not through perks or posters, but through what they model every day.
Employees follow people, not policies. When leaders show emotional regulation, set boundaries in real time, and fold well-being into decisions, the whole team learns what “normal” can be.
Try these this week:
• Name your stress and how you’re coping
• Recover in the open after setbacks
• Say out loud, “I’ll log off now and continue tomorrow”
• Ask before deadlines, “Will this pace cause burnout or can we structure it differently”
• Celebrate balance and learning, not just output
If you lead people, choose one behavior to model and tell your team you’re practicing it. If you’re an IC, share this with your manager and ask which one you can try together.
