The above patient is a teenager who presented with painless redness and swelling in the eye since 2 months.
The patient and his parents had been to numerous doctors but the eye issue persisted despite many eye drops and ointments.
When they came to us, clinically the diagnosis was very clear: Subconjunctival large component with Myocysticercosis.
A B-scan was performed that demonstrated the scolex of the worm clearly.
A course of oral anti-helminthic (de-worming) medication along with oral steroids were prescribed for a month. At 3 weeks follow-up there was zero change.
The family was reassured and asked to continue the medication as prescribed and be patient.
On week 5, the swelling and cyst dramatically decreased, and the treatment was ceased after 10-12 more days.
The final picture is a follow up at 3 months.
