BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measurement that calculates an individual's weight in relation to their height, providing a rough indicator of body fatness.

Here's how to calculate BMI:

1. Weigh yourself in kilograms (kg)
2. Measure your height in meters (m)
3. Square your height (m²)
4. Divide your weight (kg) by your height squared (m²)

Keep in mind that BMI has limitations, as it doesn't account for muscle mass or body composition. For example, athletes with high muscle mass may have a high BMI without excess body fat.

SUGAR CRAVINGS IN DIABETES

People with diabetes can experience sugar cravings for a variety of reasons, including:

Brain needs sugar
When the body doesn't have enough insulin, the brain can't use the sugar in the bloodstream for fuel. To compensate, the brain signals hunger and cravings to encourage eating.

Hypoglycemia
When the body is trying to get sugar, people with diabetes who are prone to hypoglycemia may crave sugar.

Insulin spikes
Sudden insulin spikes can cause energy levels to crash, which can lead to fatigue and sugar cravings.

HOW TO. AVOID SUGAR CRAVINGS

Eating consistently

Eating regular meals and snacks throughout the day can help avoid low blood sugar and intense hunger.

Eating healthy options
Filling up on less sugary, healthier foods like protein, fiber-rich whole grains can help.

Including healthy snacks can also help keep you feeling full and reduce the need for sugary snacks.
